Out shopping today and saw some puppies up for rehoming from a local rescue. Ended up putting my name down

Don't get me wrong I've been thinking about a pup for a while as company for my 18 month old Jrx and this is the perfect time as I have 5 months off over summer to train etc, but its just dawning on me that I've got out of the puppy stage and will be straigh back in it!

but on the other hand...........the pup is one squggly qiggly bundle of fluff and watching him grow to see what he turns into will be amazing! He's a saluki cross (but crossed with what we don't know) and a rescue from a puppy farm. 8 weeks old and ready to go in 2, I'm on the list for an interview

no advice needed really, I just wanted to share!

Yes I've never had one, but have been reading up a d they seem pretty laid back, as long as they are not allowed to run free in an open area. After having a Doberman i think I can handle anything! Still no news as yet (not surprising as its weekend) and still not told mum! (I obviously don't live with her and am 30, so old enough to make my own decisions, but she still terrifies me)

I have a saluki x and a JRT, the JRT was 4 when we got the puppy (6 yrs ago now), and was bossing the little one about a bit, lol Now he is towering over her. He is brilliant, and we can let him off in fields, and he keeps looking where you are and comes dashing back to you unlike the JRT who has her own mind, and is not bothered if you are a long way away. He is the most gentle dog you can imagen.
You will have fu nwith yours.

I read that as a saluki x jrt can't imagine how that's work!

I've already got the jr x and he's the main reason I want another, he has a blooming good life but I feel like he needs company, he love other dogs and get all sad when we leave mums old man dog.

Lol, the last dog I got I sent her a pic when I'd got him! She was 400 miles away so I was safe. I do the same when I get tattoos!

Awww how cute, I hope you get him.

I have fallen in love with Bertie he is just a bundle of cuteness, sadly I don't think my female SBT would think the same though!

Aww I wonder if we can rehome all the dogs via this thread!

On a serious note if u live in or around hull, they do 'dog for a day' where u go collect a dog and take them out with you. Great idea for those that can't have a dog but want to help, and does wonders for the dogs.

I have no doubt you'll sail through the interview and that pup will be one lucky dog.

Lurchers are brilliant dogs, you won't regret it. Sighthounds are fab, really low maintenance. They're sprinters...but really laid back, lazy dogs in the house. My last dog was a scruffy lurcher, then I fostered a saluki cross with a view to keeping him but he turned out to have a very strong prey drive and was reacting strongly to my cats. I now have a whippet. Love sighthounds and wouldn't have anything else now.

Have a look on the Lurcher Link forums, lots of nice folk there, lots of saluki crosses and a couple of pure salukis.
