They can run free, you just need to trust him!!

My dad used to let our previous grey run free on the back field, other dog walkers would be stood open mouthed watching him - he really was an awesome sight when he was in full run mode.

I bet it's a great sight, there are plenty of enclosed fields around here so we should be fine.

Still not heard anything

On a serious note if u live in or around hull, they do 'dog for a day' where u go collect a dog and take them out with you. Great idea for those that can't have a dog but want to help, and does wonders for the dogs.”

Do they? I live in Hull and this appeals to me. Do you have a link?

Yes they are desperate for them too. It's oakwood dog rescue, they tend to use thier fb page more than website, if you search them on there you'll see all the appeals for walkers!

I've used it to my advantage, told my mum no one wants him because of his leg, so now she can't say no!

She still said no, but I can tell she's relenting.... (I'd like to reiterate, I'm a grown woman with my own home but still fear my mum!)

Meeting wasn't great my yogi was really nervous and shaky, not about the pup but the big dogs barking in the back, so they are worried that's the sort of behaviour that will pass onto the pup. I tired to explain that yogi is a rescue, separated at 4 weeks from mum and his litter, and he's just not good in kennels or with men (which there were in reception) and the first time in kennels he was next to two big rotties that were really loud and Barky, so all three was a nightmare for him. We took them outside and he visibly relaxed but wasn't interested in pup at all, so we are going to bring pup here for a trial, see if that's better, if not then its no puppy for us, my yogi I has got to be ok with it, he's e priority. So all in all a good but disappointing day.

Ahhhh drat!!! As you say Yogi takes priority, maybe the trial will go better. He was clearly freaked out at being in such an overwhelming situation.

Well done for being so responsible about the whole thing, wish everyone took the same steps as you.

Keep us updated.

Will do. Trials tomorrow, keeping everything's crossed, it's so hard for the kids to understand!

Chin up!!! Trial tomorrow will go great! Will have my pinkies crossed for you.

I'm amazed their brain cells didn't twig that yogi might be stressed by all the barking in an unfamiliar place. makes more sense to do a home visit trial instead of making you take yogi there. (excuse while I pull my stupid place at them *belms*)

Hopefully it will go well at home but sorry to hear Yogi had such a stressful day

He was fine as soon as we were out of there, it's just his fear, and I'm not going to force him to face it if he doesn't want to, he's known by our kennels now and only has female keepers, so it's managed. I'm more worried about tomorrow and the crazy, seemingly untrained dog they'll meet! Had visitors tonight and he was bounding all over, throwing toys at them, charging about trying to get them to play tug of war etc etc. it was rather embarrassing! But if he can't be confident at home then I'd worry!

Aw poor Yogi. I remember the one and only time I went to see "My" dog in the kennels at Guide Dogs. She had returned there for her training and we were encouraged to go and visit her. Totally wrong thing for me to do. I spent the entire time in floods of tears wanting to bring her home but knowing I couldn't. All these barking dogs, looking for attention. Sitting crying now remembering, horrific. I hope all goes well tomorrow and you get your wee baby to complete your family.

They are trainers and behaviourists too, so they work with new owners to make sure they don get problem dogs later on, so wanted to see my dog out of his area, unfortunately yogi does have problems, and that highlighted it! Poor mite. He's fine everywhere else with other dogs, but never had one he doesn't know in his environment before......
