Having watched tonight's episode completely spoiler free I decided after the show to then view the spoilers on this forum.

I absolutely loved tonight's episode and couldn't help wondering how disappointed I would have been if I'd watched the show with the advance knowledge which is clearly documented in the spoilers.

I was absolutely gobsmacked to see the first doctor at the start of the show and didn't see that one coming in a a million years.

I say ban spoilers for the future and let us all enjoy the element of surprise.

I agree now. Accidentally viewing a spoiler earlier in the week ruined the element of surprise. It would've been brilliant if I hadn't known what was around the corner.

Same here...I refused to acknowledge the spoilers and felt better for it

Well each to their own, just people need to be VERY clear when posting spoilers.

I agree with this. For the last week I have hardly been on the forum so I couldn't accidentally read a spoiler as so many times I have read spoilers not advertised as such.

Same - agree wholeheartedly with this

OP, I second your sentiments and consider my own comments from a previous week:

I avoided this forum for a week and it was definitely worth it. It sent shivers down my spine seeing the first Doctor talking to Clara.

Awesome stuff.

Would you be able to avoid the forum for a whole 8 or 13 week series though? That would be a challenge indeed.

Hmm, well I've not enjoyed posting here as much as I used to for sometime anyway so I should think I could avoid this forum a whole series if needs be.

That said. I've been here throughout this series and managed to watch every episode spoiler free. I just didn't want to take the chance with the final episode, especially after the cock up with the American Blu-Rays.

I have no problem with spoilers as long as they are clearly labelled as such.

After the news of the early release I decided I didn't want to know anytihing so put a ban on myself from viewing this section for a week. How I am pleased I did. Totally surprised and amazed to see the opening and everything else that came was a shock to me. Loved it all.

I avoided the forum all week as I didn't want to see anything (Unfortunately I did see a picture on facebook of Clara with the 6th behind her) but apart from that I had no idea. It was interesting for me watching as even I was getting excited at seeing previous doctor's despite the fact I've only seen episodes from Doc 11

I agree with your final comment Disco. I sometimes though cannot avoid but be tempted to read the spoilers. After enjoying this weeks episode so much spoiler free I think I have now broken the habit.

And just after writing that I saw a spoiler relating to the 50th anniversary episode that I would rather not have seen (and wasn't hidden in spoiler tags). So I guess I should just have stayed away from these forums

I'm glad I avoided the forum as well then...I think I might have gone postal on someone's ass if I'd seen any spoilers...plus...bad form on the people who did.

Same here, the early release made me avoid the lot (and boy, was it worth it - best night since Day of the Moon and the regenerating child).

It's a shame that even 'liking' Doctor Who on Facebook resulted in a screencap with Clara and Colin Baker in the background, and of Gallifrey at the start

Ouch Ab, that's bad.

Have to say, the last week's really made me rethink even visiting DS in the future. Watching tonight was great (and have only now read some other threads retrospectively - that would have been major ruiners, not spoilers - glad I stayed away). I visit to see what others thought about stuff, but so many comments are so juvenile, bitchy or shallow, and the risk of spoilers so great, I wonder if it's better to just stop viewing DS completely.

So, who is currently spoiler free and ready for a fantastic 23rd November?

I know absolutely nothing about DOTD other than one has been shown on TV which is obviously not a lot.

There isn't many spoilers for the episode. Therefore about 99% of people are virtually spoiler free anyway. The production team has done a very good job in terms of lack of spoilers for The Anniversary episode and the Christmas episode.

I haven't yet seen NotD, and I erroneously took the title of this thread to mean that there were no spoilers included in the discussion. I have thus stumbled upon information (in the very first post!) that I might have preferred not to know.

I'm not too upset about this myself, but would it be possible to edit the title to avoid other people making the same mistake?

Thanks.

I actually think we know more about the Christmas episode than the Anniversary ep tbh.

Maybe releasing news of the regeneration was the best diversion tactics they could've ever hoped for, when it comes to deflecting attention from the meat and drink of the 50th.

(P.S. Sorry to spoil that there'll be a regeneration, that might have slipped by you )

Sorry about that. Good idea on changing the title. Anyone know how I do that?

You can't do it yourself, certainly not six months after the event!
You could message the forum admins and ask them to do it.

Any damage will have been done months ago, no point.
