Huh... http://fanboyforthewin.tumblr.com/image/50751341805

Not really sure if they've shown a TARDIS with the Chameleon Circuit turned off before, but that was pretty cool

And what was wrong with the one the Doctor was originally going to take that Clara saved him by suggesting the other one ? Dodgy brakes ?

Suppose it just wasn't "his" TARDIS, which has served him loyally for so many years.

And what's all that nonsense about the Tardis choosing the Doctor?!?
So 3008

We saw uncloaked TARDIS' in The War Games but they were a lot more box like, not cylindrical.

Nope as we saw it enter the time vortex in that shape

As for war games, maybe that was a different model? The Doctors is a Type 40.

Perhaps that's why the TARDIS doesn't like Clara.

All this time she's had this great story about how she chose the Doctor, she even convinced the Doctor of that fact. Then along comes Clara who the TARDIS knew was the real reason and could prove the TARDIS had made it all up.

I like that theory!

Because the GI messed up his time stream and changed all his major events, in this case choosing the correct TARDIS.

That as kinda the whole point in Clara wasn't it, to help change his mind and save him.

Didn't the TARDIS say she chose him and only went because of that, it could have been that if the Dr had have chosen the one he was originally going to take it wouldn't have flown for him and ultimately he would have been caught by the Timelords.

Also I don't think that what TARDIS's look like, just them all reverting to that shape with their Chameleon arc.

That TARDIS looks too much like a used toilet roll being flushed down a toilet filled with red liquid to me. What a bizarre thought

Does anybody know which William Hartnell episode they took the video from?
I'm interested in seeing the original scene in its original context.

Or any of the previous Doctors' scenes for that matter if you happen to know?
For example that piece of Patrick Troughton video looked interesting.

That Troughton clip must have been from The Five Doctors. I think the clip of Pertwee was from The Five Doctors as well.

The Tom Baker clip was from The Invasion of Time

There's nothing to say the Tardis didn't indicate to Clara ( flashed a light, or made a sound or something) to tell her it was that one. So in that case you could say the Tadis did choose the Doctor. It told Clara to tell the Doctor to take that one. It indicated itself to be available in some fashion. How else would it have done it anyway ( before Clara I mean)?

And as o the shape it is probably just the shape they assume when 'docked' on Gallifrey? For easy storage and easy access etc.

Episode 10 of The War Games had them in, different design but implied it was a different model.

Well I was thinking that perhaps the Doctor can select a Tardis, but that the Tardis can perhaps reject Timelords if it doesn't quite like the look of them.

Possibly a stretch, but we saw in last night's episode that when Madame Vastra, Clara, and River were sat at the table there appeared to be a bit of prickly rivalry and jealously evident as to who was closest to The Doctor.
Possibly foreshadowing elements of the story?
That perhaps might suggest that The Tardis can have a bit of a jealous streak as well?

The War Games featured SiDRATs - inferior limited life-span transport devices crudely based on the principles of TARDIS engineering.

These props were reused, to save money, in the TARDIS landing bay on Gallifrey in Ep.10. The novel suggests more differences. As you say, all TARDIS on Gallifrey are implied to be subsequent models to the Type 40 anyway.
