So people have been saying that John Hurt is going to be playing the 12th Doctor? And I was wondering if there was any sort of confirmation for this.

My assumption was that he was the final incarnation of the Doctor, the one that died because he didn't keep the secret.

I was just looking for some sort of clarification, if anyone knows or has any theories?

There's more than a couple of theories I've seen.

One is a Doctor that was 'erased' and locked up in the time lock that contains the time war.

One is he is an alternate 9th Doctor who would/could have been

One is that he is the Valeyard ( an evil incarnation of he Doctor from his future).

I'm sure I've seen some others too.
