Does viewing this on a non 4K display do it justice I wonder? Even so you can see the better detail in the 4K version.
Thanks for the link.. |

You should benefit from slightly better pq on a 2k display due to the higher bitrate, but they say they are optimised for 4k displays.

Which was my point........I first viewed it on my laptop and could notice a little difference. On the 1440 display it looked even better and the difference more pronounced. I must admit I'm looking to buying into 4K as my next TV upgrade. Now they are in production I don't think it will be long before the prices drop to a decent level.
Not a bad price to start with, £4k for the Sony 55", couldn't have been any other price really. ![]() LG have yet to announce prices for their 55" and 65" 4k displays, guessing they will be around the same price. |

It's a move to drive an appetite for 4k, which is understandable for the likes of Sony who are in the unusual position of peddling both the content and the telly. Ultimately though, it's really just breeding confusion and misinformation…which is also understandable for the likes of Sony. |

I'm not sure I buy this. They're still 1080p transfers, just downscaled from a 4k master. They might be a higher bitrate, but nothing about this is 'optimised' for 4k displays, on which they will still be upscaled. Arguably, they can look better on a decent 1080p display without any destructive upscaling.

I'm just pleased 4k is making an appearance, the early arrival will mean prices will soon start to drop. 2k upscaled to 4k will be acceptable to me until true 4k arrives, then I suppose it's sit back and wait for 8k.

I got Ghostbusters 4K through the post yesterday and its most certainly a vast improvement in PQ compared to the original Blu Ray release.
My only gripe with this remaster is that they didn't touch up the Stay Puft scene as his legs are still see through when he walks near the church. |
