Poor love.

Mind you, there is always one contestant who has been ill in the past, there is normally one candidate who has battled cancer twice and is still living.

Not Natalie's fault, but why is it whenever the bloody tabloids get involved the sob stories come out?? This is not Britains got Talent!

I agree. Obviously, like a lot of teenagers, Natalie went through a very difficult spell of feeling she didn't fit in, got bullied and needed help to get over this horrible experience.

However, I am sure some of the other contestants have also battled illness, victimisation, rejection and other traumas. They're not relevant to the programme and shouldn't be dragged up by the tabloids like this.

Random note on her time in theatre as I tripped over this link earlier:

She's mentioned in their May 9th post as starring in their 2006 show.

Notable they're supportive - unlike the manager of her girl band Candy quoted in one of The Sun's articles.

I'm sure most people could write a sob story if they wanted to.

I don't get why their personal lives are relevant.

This show is turning more into Big Brother every year.

It is indeed.

Expect a diary room chair in the house next year. I would not be surprised.

I agree. I'm not saying Natalie's story isn't true or a difficult one but nowadays any setback or minor trauma is often worked up into something significant by TV producers or journalists in search of a bit of drama and a good sob story. You see it all the time on programmes like the X-Factor where, for instance, a contestant's elderly grandparent dying is not portrayed as the sad but inevitable event it is; but as some kind of 'tragedy' in the contestant's life. It's cheap and tacky and has become really annoying.

Not surprising since the viewing figures for the show. If it attracts loads of people, why not change the format slightly ?
