At this point I ought to say you should give them a chance, but I don't think they are better at all. They were the work of writers who hadn't really done much on TV (nothing at all in some cases) and didn't really know what they were doing, but hardly anyone else wanted to write for Doctor Who by that stage so there you go. If there's anything else you'd rather be watching, I'd opt for that.

I agree even though listed Terminus as worst Arc of Infinity and Time-Flight are almost as bad and. All three of them share the same incidental music I found out since I watched them recently. I nick-named Time-Flight and Arc of Infinity, Time-Shite and The Arse of Infinity but I dont know what to nickname Terminus. Any ideas?

Haven't seen enough of Classic who to make a judgement of the stories of those doctors but from 2005 to now

9th doctor

best - a three way tie between the the three two parters of the series, as i think they are all great but each is so different in tone and style that it is hard to judge them against each other.

worst - I honestly don't have a single story I dislike in that entire series. If I absolutely have to choose one that I could say was weaker than the others, then perhaps boom town. Thats not to say I dislike the story at all, just that out of such a strong run, it probably has the least going on.

10th doctor

Best - The stolen earth/Journeys end - A true masterpiece that has yet to be bettered as finales go, in my opinion. A wonderfully put together story representing a culmination of everything that came before it in 10's era. Lots of companions, davros, daleks, a big threat harsh destruction scenes, emotional scenes, funny scenes, sad scene's, the doctor getting challenged on the nature of his personality. It has everything a good story should have and binds it all together effortlessly and coherently.

Worst - Love and monsters

11th doctor

Best - Two way tie between A Christmas carol and day of the doctor. A Christmas carol was one of the few Moffat examples in his era of timey wimey done well. A new telling of a classic story which just worked perfectly. As for Day of the doctor, what can I say that hasn't already been said many times. Just epic, and a fitting celebration of 50 years. Would have been better with eccleston rather than a one episode doctor gimmick, but is still great as is.

Worst - NIght terrors - Just terrible.

12th doctor

Best - Last christmas - This episode had a good strong story which was clever with plenty of twists and turns, and more importantly frequently felt like it had real peril. Also Capaldi in this episode feels really like he has settled into the role more than any of the episodes that came before, and the usually overbearing Clara even is the co operative likeable Clara that is so rarely seen.

Worst - Forest of the night - seriously I wonder how this even made it past the scripting submission stage.

The caretaker is a close second though. A pointlessly boring episode where it became the Clara show like no other.

What would be an example of a purposely boring episode?

I haven't seen a lot of the classic series yet (although I've seen 19 serials in total) so I'll leave out the classic series Doctors but out of the new series ones:

Christopher Eccleston:

Best: Bad Wolf/Parting Of The Ways
Worst: The End Of The World

David Tennant:

Best: The End Of Time - Part 2
Worst: Love & Monsters

Matt Smith:

Best: Day of the Doctor
Worst: The Rebel Flesh/The Almost People

Peter Capaldi:

Best: Dark Water
Worst: The Caretaker
Mr Moriarty

Right, so since I am a wee bit indecisive about specific, outright, singular favourites, Ill post my top 2 (sometimes maybe even join 3 best and worst for each doctor).

First Doctor; William Hartnell
Best: Dalek Invasion of Earth / The Daleks
Worst: The Rescue / The Romans

Second Doctor: Patrick Troughton
Best: The War Games / The Mind Robber (maybe an odd choice, I know, but ive always been extremely fond of this one!)
Worst: The Dominators (not BAD just a bit run of the mill) / The krotons (same deal)

Third Doctor: John Pertwee
Best: Inferno / Spearhead from Space
Worst: Both peladon stories bore me a bit.

Fourth Doctor: Tom Baker
Best: Horror of Fang Rock / Genesis of the Daleks / City of Death
Worst: Revenge of the Cybermen / Underworld

Fifth Doctor: Peter Davison
Best: Kinda / Caves of Androzani
Worst: Warriors of the Deep / Frontios

Sixth Doctor: THE Colin Baker
Best: The Mark of the Rani
Worst: Twin Dilemma / Timelash

Seventh Doctor: Sylvester McCoy
Best: Survival / Ghost Light
Worst: Time and the Rani / Delta and the bannermen

Eighth Doctor: Paul Mcgann
Best: (Cheating here, but id say, my fave 8th doctor STORY is the novel "alien bodies")
Worst: (cheating again) War of the daleks novel

Ninth Doctor: Christopher Eccelstone
Best: Fathers Day / Parting of the ways
Worst: the long Game.

Tenth Doctor: David Tennant
Best: Gridlock / Turn Left / The Waters of Mars
Worst: Fear Her / Planet of the Dead

Eleventh Doctor: Matt Smith
Best: The Big Bang / The Girl Who Waited
Worst: Nifghtmare in Silver / Journey to the centre of the tardis (Dont think ive ever been so disappointed in an episode.

Twelfth Doctor: Peter Capaldi
Best: Listen (fast became an all time fave of mine)
Worst: Robot of sherwood was the only one I thought was particularly average this series (you can put me firmly in the yay season eight camp) - appreciated the tone of this one, just not the script.

Oh, an Just thought I would put this in here: the doctors ranked from my fave to least fave (though I genuinely like each and every single one of them):

1. Ninth Doctor - Eccleston
2. Tenth Doctor - Tennant
3. Eleventh Doctor - Smith
4. Fourth Doctor - T. Baker
5. Fifth Doctor - Davidson
6. Twelfth Doctor - Capaldi (get the feeling 12 may be further up by the end of his run)
7. Second Doctor - Troughton
8. First Doctor - Hartnell
9. Third Doctor - Pertwee
10. Eighth Doctor - McGann
11. Seventh Doctor - Mccoy
12. Sixth Doctor - C. Baker

I meant pointlessly boring in the sense that it was pointless to make a story that was so boring and Clara and Danny centric when that could have been used for an extra 'doctor having an adventure episode'. Just my opinion of course For reasons unbeknownst to me I've noticed that some on the forum like it, so obviously some people got something out of it, but not my kind of story at all.
