*Backward comparability gone.

*Looks bigger than the first gen Xbox 360.

*Charges a fee seemingly for second hand games?

*The all round media thing might fail with Smart TV's and it being an over crowded market.

I'm not being anti xbox here. Wii U has failed and PS4 has yet to deliver.

This might be the end of games consoles as we know it. On a positive there's tablet gaming and the current gen consoles will come down in price and most people see these as perfectly good.

I'm sure it'll do alright but it's not for me. Not straight away, anyway.

I'm totally fine with the look but the lack of BC, especially after I've spent loads on Live Arcade stuff, is a big hurdle. Far too US centric on the gimmicks, too. We all know how things went with the 360 regards to TV and I think anyone with a Kinect knows controlling the thing is nowhere near as straightforward as on the presentation

End of games consoles? Nah. Far better prospects have failed in the past and we're still kicking. The industry juggles far too much cash for it to simply disappear. If this gen fails they'll just simplify for next gen. Meanwhile there are always Steam Box variants and the incoming Android boxes that will mop up casual play.

I'll be getting my kicks through Steam for the foreseeable future, along with my 360 and PS3, and will wait and see how the One develops.

I could have forgiven all the little faults with it as some of the games look great but there is absolutely no way after paying 400 for a console I'm going pay to activate a game on multiple accounts so both me and my brother can play it, locking pre-owned games and not scrapping the ridiculous Xbox Live charges-Sorry Microsoft but you've well and truly flunked this one, PS4 it is :P

Kinetic has to be always attached...no option of just bynig the console without the kinetic and spending less.

When I play games I relax I dont jump about lie I'm in a swarm of wasps.

I was considering being an early adopter for this one as I have some spare 'money' to use but I won't bother.

Micro$oft never listen to their market most people just want to play games...the iPlayer and Lovefilm apps are good...but I can get both of those via my Blu-ray player.

They may start to realise people do not want the level of spying and control that companies are now getting...problem is I doubt most people will realise the issues before they buy them as they'll be parent sbuying for kids and neither will realise the issues...until word gets round that the second-hand market has suddenly become more expensive due to the extra fee one has to pay.

I agree with mred2000 still loads of great games stll to play on the 360.

I don't like the idea of talking to a machine. I have no real interest in kinect, the console is bigger than the original Xbox and the 2nd hand games issue to me IS an issue as I buy most of my games 2nd hand.

I was a late buyer in 360 (2009) so it will be a while before my next console purchase.

Think it will do well in the United States, but I think it will struggle in Europe & Japan.

Shame they can't do two versions, one being what was shown and another which was just purely a games console.

Actually, when it really comes down to it, I don't think it will do well in the United States, at least not as well as the 360.

I don't think Americans need another cable box on top of their existing ones!

LOL, can't believe all these people saying they're definitely getting a PS4 after that launch.
I'll be waiting till everything gets released and we know exactly what the scores are with everything.

People are being far too whiney on little information!

I can's say I am overwhelmed.

The gimmicks of talking and gestures to move menus or change tv channels are not ones im at all fussed about.

Most people who are in to their tech will most likely have Sky tv or something anyway. I have burnt through enough Xboxes by gaming let alone watching tv through them as well.

I will wait to see the games in action to see if it is worth upgrading. I wish they would actually show in-game footage.

I cant see sony having people talking to the Ps4 lol. This is what they want people doing like kinect to get people of there backsides and promote fun excersise. Gone are the days of the Hardcore gamer they want family Fun. Its a Multimedia device now, i for one will wait for Ps4 because i reckon it will serious;y deliver a body blow to Microsoft.

This is all the information you need to justify why you wouldnt be getting an Xbox One:

The console will need access to the Internet at least once a day.

Can you play your friend's games on your own console and vice versa? NO, Unless you pay a fee.

Will it work without Kinect? No.

Will all that live TV stuff be available outside of the US at launch? No.

Is it backwards compatible in any way? No

Xbox live gold still exists when the PSN is of just as good quality but not as good content.

I don't see how people are being to "whiney" on little information?

My xbox is on the bottom shelf of my tv unit. With an inbuilt camera in the new "one", that means that it will have to be placed at a certain height and presumably distance in realation to where you sit to game...it all sounds a bi of a pain in the arse to be honest. Kinect hasn't been anything more than a cash grab at the wii market.

The new Kinect camera isn't built into the Xbox One.
It's still a separate unit but it comes with the machine as standard and not as an extra purchase.

For me the online connection means no sale. It's completely unacceptable that any physical release should be locked to an account or machine or that an internet connection should be required to play a game that is single player.

Well done, what you've said there is total bullshit.

You don't need an internet connection to play a single player game at all, you need an internet connection to A) Make full use of the system and B) to optionally play the game without the disk in the drive (24hr online background authtication).

Games are not locked to the machine, you will be able to play on ANY Xbox One so long as you use your profile. MS have a plan in store not yet fully revealed to allow you to trade in, rent and buy pre-owned games, but these changes are being made so that part of that fee will change hands from greedy high-street stores to the publisher/developer (who currently see no profit from preowned sales). It's only fair tbh. Sony will also adopt the same/similar strategy and they have not confirmed the finer details on pre-owned games yet themselves.

Microsoft are being a bit vague about details but several sites say you have to be logged in to your account to play which seems to me anyway, suggest online drm such as some PC games use which I find unacceptable. If you have the disc it should be playable whatever account is used.

It might be an idea to let them turn up before making a judgement.
The Wii U hasn't failed yet. Although it needs several big exclusives.
The Xbox One and PS4 haven't gripped me yet, because my first priority is a console with a physical media, i.e a disk or cartridge.
Not all the multimedia and connection stuff.
The day movies and games are only available as downloads is when I might get a new hobby.

I am a bit of a noob when it comes to next generation consoles, but as long as I can play pong on it I think it will be a success!
