I am sure that this is a very basic question, so please accept my apologies in advance.

We have an existing laptop which has MS office loaded on to it, we are about to buy a replacement laptop so how do I reload Office on to the new machine?

I have the original CD but the licence will (presumably) be allocated to the old machine so how can I get it onto the new laptop using the same licence?

Thanks

Is it a retail version of Office? If so just reinstall with the existing key and it should activate ok.

If its an OEM version then the license does not permit you to install on another machine and it may not activate.

My dad this when his old laptop snuffed it last summer and I think he just reinstalled and used the same product key to activate. He might have activated by 'phone rather than over the internet, but I don't remember.

Thanks for the info, looks like we will just have to try and install it and see what happens.
