Hi ya,
I just wanted to know what people thought about the numerous websites out there offering mobile phones for £20. As long as millions of people sign up you get higher in the queue. Has anyone ever got a phone of these websites/schemes?

You can GET a mobile phone for £20!!

Was in Dixons today and they had a Sagem something or other on Orange PAYG for £20.

Back on topic meanwhile ..... I have seen one or two people posting up on other forums I use saying these things did actually work but I'm still not convinced myself. It's usually IPod's I see folk warbling on about ...

I'm on a few of these lists from last June/July and still haven't received anything.

Yeah, I can't see these being a good idea. Logically, they must receive 7 or 8 £20 purchases for every phone they give away. They're not stupid...

It depends how busy the site is. In theory you could wait only a matter of a few weeks for your phone.

On the other hand £20 isnt gonna break the bank and at some point you should receive something. Or simply resell the link on ebay....

Its not a scam as such, but its certainly not a straightforward purchase.

I made probably over £300 selling they links last year and a lot of people were satisfied with their purchase as well.

What??? Confused! I was talking about pyramid type selling of products.......

Yep, they are legit.

I bought a signal enhancer (they have to offer something for your £20!!!) from ebay on one of these schemes, and posted the add back on ebay explaining the system, and got plenty of people on it.

Got a Nokia 7610 doing this, and it was only a few months, £20 and a few listings on ebay.

By the time your phone arrives its an out of date brick and the new models have come out.
I don't actualy know anyone that has recieved one either, but people say they have put their names on lists that their MATES got a new phone from. I personally would go to a shop and buy a phone if I wanted one instead of waiting for something that may never turn up.

Read the sticky at the top of the forum. Beth's right. 90% of the time these things are a con.

I've never met someone, in the flesh, who has actually got one of these....

The phone is supposed to be a free gift for buying the software.
I am hooked now, moving up the list slowly....

So 10 people sign up (and join the list) for every free phone given out?

Does no-one else see the problem here? It is basically a pyramid scheme, in a different form.

I wouldn't have thought so. Your clearly saying how it works, if people are stupid enough to pay £20 to join the list, surely thats up to them?

hmm steer clear, i've seen ipods, £1200 lm ferrari laptops and stuff like that on them, i think its just some kind of money making scheme, the users that actaully receive things may just be "imaginary" people put on the website by the admin
