It's my all time fave of hers,

If you own the album what is your fave track?

It would have to be Live To Tell, La Isla Bonita or the title track. I know they're all singles but they're the sings I listen to the most from True Blue.

Live to Tell. It's just perfect.

IMO this is the first decent Madonna album. Her debut and Like a Virgin are OK, but True Blue is just on a whole other level. I initially hated 'White Heat', but that too has grown on me considerably as the years have passed.

I had to look up the tracklisting:

Papa Don't Preach
Open Your Heart
White Heat
Live to Tell
Where's the Party
True Blue
La Isla Bonita
Jimmy Jimmy
Love Makes the World Go Round

I like 'Open Your Heart' a lot but I would have to say my favourite is 'Papa Don't Preach'.

I feel obliged to say Papa Don't Preach, because in most respects it's the most mature, 'direction changing'/epoch-making track. But to be honest, and although lyrically it may take the 'sophistication' degree down a notch, I have to say that True Blue is simply one of the most perfectly produced and executed slices of pure 'pop' I have ever heard - mixing its pastiche intentions with cutting-edge production slickness that is still stunning to this day. I'd have to also though pick Live To Tell alongside, totally different 'type' of song but shares the same stunning technical brilliance DNA, and so my favour is indivisible

I know it's an unpopular oppinion whilst a good album i really don't see the big fuss save for the singles mostly filler but that said some gems to be found but my favourite:

La Isla Bonita i love the Spanish vibe and the lyrics and its just a really fantastic pop song notable mentions to PDP, TB and LTT and OPYH.

I'm going to offer my head above the parapet of popular opinion now, and declare that for a long while now I've found La Isla Bonita to be somewhat pedestrianly schmaltzy and musically un-extraordinary, compared with the prior six tracks. It's certainly usually a question of mood as to whether eight or nine times out of ten I'll eject the disc after 'True Blue', or wait to give LIB the concessionary grace of letting it play out simply because it's indisputably better than the last two tracks

Its not my fave Madonna album.

I guess my fave track would be: Wheres the party. Such a strong song cant believe it was never released as a single.

Was it an original Madonna song? Its sounds familiar but Ive never heard anyone else sing it, if that makes sense??

It's one of my favourite albums.

... I initially hated 'White Heat', but that too has grown on me considerably as the years have passed.
It wasn't my favourite track to begin with either but I'd say it's my joint favourite with 'Papa Don't Preach' now.

What a splendid description. I hope they re-release the single edit (remix) of it at some point. It's not too different from the album mix really but those extra synth 'embellishments' in the right places are the icing on the cake for me, especially in the bridge. It definitely shines through as one of her best songs to this day.

So true. Whenever I hear 'La Isla Bonita,' it reminds me of being on holiday in Spain as a child. I particularly love the background vocals she recorded for the song, which they made excellent use for the extended version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9OWKT_TFPw They really sound great on a warm day.

True Blue is still my all-time fave Madonna single. I knew La Isla Bonita as an album track and liked it well before it was released as a single.

What a tough question. Jimmy Jimmy aside, this album is flawless but at a push I would choose Open Your Heart. This album contains some of the best pop songs ever

Its really difficult to pick one because every song on it is so great.

but

I'd settle for Live To Tell.

It was the first song she officially co-produced so could be classed as her first genuine masterpiece.

La Isla Bonita. I still dislike White Heat and after 27 years, still can't really get in to it.

Personally it is my least ave Madonna album....But i still like it....Jimmy Jimmy and Love Makes The...i kinda tune out of though and the title song i need to be in the mood for....True Blue as an album i think works for me all the more in the summer June - AUgust months more than any other...i guess that is the Pure Pop vibe it presents....plus it was released in the summer of 86 so i guess that connotation surrounds it anyhow.

I think my favourite song is Open Your Heart...it just sound so punchy...i adore Live To Tell when you seperate it from the album however....it is a very very deep brooding song....White Heat and Wheres The party are non-single jems.....so yeah they would be my top bunch....throw in papa Dont Preach and there we have it

but for me it is my least played Madonna album...but with the summer coming up (hopefully) i think its almost time for an airing

It has to be La Isla Bonita for me.
4 minutes of pop perfection. I just love the ending - the final minute or so.....it just wistfully slips away in the final 30 seconds and you want to stay with it.

Live to Tell! In my opinion, it is one of Madonna's best songs and her best ballad without a doubt. Though, I don't believe it should have been included on True Blue as it's rather different to the other songs and considering it was a soundtrack, I believe it should have been a stand alone like Crazy for You or This Used to be My Playground
