Perfect albums:

Lana Del Rey - Born To Die
Hurts - Happiness

Britney Spears - Blackout, I know people snort at Britney, but this album really is amazing, a masterclass in how to make a pop album for rookies, it has everything, even though it mainly delves into synth, electro and urban genres it still has slower more vulnerable tracks like Why Should I Be Sad as well as mid tempo stompers like Piece of Me and dancey electronic beats like on Heaven on Earth, this for me, is the quintessential pop album for those who enjoy pop music.

Madonna - Confessions On a Dancefloor, truly a great dance and electronic album, Madonna experiements a lot with the genres on this album, each song is well thought out and tells a story of it's own, each track segues into the next making for a cohesive and well written album.

Lana Del Rey - Born To Die, many call her dull, but this album is epic, delving into motown, pop, RnB and even Hip Hop! Each song is grand and cinematic and carried along with Lana's superb vocals, you'll feel like you've just seen an action, sci-fi romantic comedy movie of epic proportions after hearing this lol!

Leona Lewis - Glassheart, many called this album rubbish, however, I think it is great, her vocals are so versatile, going from strong and fierce to soft and vulnerable in seconds, the songs are mainly ballads although each one sounds remarkably different from the last, some have piano backing whilst others have synths and dubstep/electro, not to mention there are a couple of disco numbers that sound very Donna Summer/Whitney Houston esque, for me a great and consistent listen.

Christina Aguilera - Back to Basics, she takes influence from old school motown and RnB on this album and the songs are just fantastic, her voice is outta this world and the songs make you feel like you're in a different era.

Nicola Roberts - Cinderella's Eyes, she finally let's loose on this album and shakes off the girlband image, it is well and truly her and the songs are dynamic, electronic and packed with strong vocals and beats, not to mention there are all sorts of references to her personal life which makes each song sound extremely relatable.

Anyways, these are my favourites, I'm a pop music fan so no shock all the albums I picked are by pop artists haha, I hope you can find something you like.

I have three 'go'to' albums that have stayed with me throughout the years and I don't think i'll ever stop digging them out from time to time....

1) Never Mind The Bollocks - The Sex Pistols - I was 16 when this came out and it literally changed the way i looked at music. Nothing would ever be the same again.

2) Rock n Roll with The Modern Lovers - Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers - For me this is the ultimate feelgood album, childlike songs presented in an early garage/pre punk style, just magical.

3) A Slight Case of Overbombing - THe Sisters of Mercy - Yes i know it's a compilation but this is a wonderful collection of powerhouse gothic rock, the highlight being Lucretia, My Reflection.

Hurts-Happiness is great from beginning to end.

Great album although I don't no why but seems better to listen to it in the winter.

I would have to agree with Hurts - Happiness. The whole album is fab.

Interesting with Blackout (only just missed my list on here) is that it does have a grit about it..and i think working with "cheaper" production tools helped enhance this mroe than later recordings or indeed anything prior she did too....it was like Rocky Horror put to Pop music just madness, darkness and eccentricness .

and yeah Confessions agreed with every word....Cinematic Music

Back To Basics i do agree...although for me Disc 2 is what i cant get enough of...i think Disc 2 is her best work ever IMO its like she tells a story from beginning to end! Brilliant...but of course Disc 1 has a lot of fun an corkers too

Yeah I totally agree, that's the perfect description for it I think, it definitely had this eccentricity to it, I think it probably shows the most personality of her albums as well, many criticise the robotic vocals but the way she uses her voice combined with the tongue in cheek lyrics make this such a fun and unique album, later albums feel a lot more polished, almost as if they've had the personality sucked right outta them in favour of fantastic production, having said that she does get to let loose on certain tracks on later albums, songs like Womanizer, Mannequin, Mmm Papi and possibly Up N Down and Selfish. Mannequin espcially I think would feel right at home on Blackout.
Madonna's Confessions of course has to be there, a sublime pop album that was worthy of all it's success.
I agree with you about disc 2 of BTB actually, there were a lot of songs on disc 1 I enjoyed but disc 2 had something a little bit more personal I think.

Not many perfect albums. Even Abba and The Beatles werent perfect.

PREFAB SPROUT _ Jordan the comeback....great album

I'm amazed someone picked this. Richman is so underrated, nay undiscovered but this is a perfect album. Also NMTB is perfect. I would probably put PiL's Metal Box alongside it.

Yeah i mean i do play In The Zone a fair bit too but Blackout kinda showcases that almost 6 years on and you can still play it and find new stuff....proves the versatility of the album and its status very well i think

And agreed Mannequin is my fave on Circus as well as ROck Me In...songs that shwocase personality within a good production is always what makes a winner for me...and her Circus and FF albums seem to suck it all out of her almost to give a more plastic/commercial showcase....makes you wonder if we will indeed have a raw Britney again or not...it would be a shame if she remained US Commercial when we know what she could be doing.

and yeah totally while i wish the US didnt blacklist Madonna during that era...it kinda proves her status over there that quality music rpevails (it sold 2 million over there despite radio black listing her over the political background of American Life) and her COachella performance over there was a storm too for it....and yeah worldwide it did very well commercially and critically....its a beautiful album with so many aspects to it...again i hope she makes an album of such status again HC and MDNA have fun moments and layers to it but also it lacks either cohesiveness/identityand shwocase that COADF and her fellow masterpeices have before...she can do it!

And yeah definitely and i miss that...while Bionic has great moments....B"B had a story to it that other Xtina albums lack for me...even Stripped i find can be divided...i dont love every song on there....whereas on B2B the majority i do especially Disc 2.

Lana Del Rey - Born To Die + Paradise.
As others have said, Lana has the amazing ability to tell a story through her songs. I never get tired of listening to her and often discover new meanings in her lyrics even after so much time spent listening. 'This Is What Makes Us Girls' has to be one of the most beautiful yet haunting pop songs I've ever heard.

Britney Spears - Blackout.
Agree with everything others have said on here. Blackout is the perfect pop record. It sticks in your head and just makes you feel so energetic. I love the darkness too it as well. It totally reflects her feelings at the time and is unlike anything she has created before or since.

Rihanna - Rated R.
This is such a dark, emotional record and you can really tell she was channelling the anger and hurt over her split with Chris Brown into this album. It has really beautiful songs like 'Te Amo' but still has that dose of necessary club hits like 'Hard' and 'Rude Boy'.

Madonna - Ray Of Light.
While Like A Prayer is my favourite Madonna album I feel ROL is technically her most perfect. It samples electronic music but instead of sounding robotic or emotionless it is the opposite. It's such a light, happy album that still has just the right hint of darkness and is perhaps Madonna's most personal to date.

Kylie Minogue - Impossible Princess.
This album is like the night to the day that was Madonna's ROL album. It also samples electronic music but in a completely different way to create a much darker, grittier feel with just the right dose of lighter, happier songs.

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream.
Some people may laugh at this choice but I believe this is a brilliant example of a lighthearted pop album made well. It's not a groundbreaking masterpiece and isn't trying to be. It's just a fun, upbeat album that blends sweet songs like 'Teenage Dream' and dark songs like 'E.T' together perfectly.

Kate Bush - 50 Words For Snow
I love the way Kate effortlessly creates an album with winter and snow as the centerpiece. It's a really beautiful album that absolutely has to be listened to from start to end in order to fully appreciate it's true beauty.

Station To Station - David Bowie The title track alone is worth the asking price. Fab combination of his earlier 'plastic soul' and the cold krautrock vibe he'd go on to explore
Fever Ray - Fever Ray Perfect off-beat pop album.
Meat Is Murder - The Smiths Just glorious. Far better than The Queen Is Dead imo.
Desertshore - Nico Still sounds like nothing else on this earth!
