McFly - Wonderland

It's a lovely, sweet, fun, yet deep and meaningful album with songs such as She Falls Asleep Pt. 2 and Too Close For Comfort being two of my favourites.

It doesn't have my favourite McFly song on it though, but if I did have to choose an album to listen to, it'd be Wonderland

A vote for me for this album too! Should have been just as successful as Fever.

Joni Mitchell - Blue

Confessional, raw, honest and forthright. It remains one of the most influential albums ever made.

Another vote for Rihanna - Rated R

The Chris Brown influence is so evident and is quite haunting at times, especially on "Cold Case Love". It's got so much depth to it and I wouldn't skip a single track. From the perfect intro that is "Mad House" to the radio friendly "Rude Boy", "Hard" and "Te Amo". You can see that she was in a dark place and that comes through in tracks like "Russian Roulette" and "G4L". Then you've got the will.i.am collaboration "Photographs" which could easily have been a hit single along with "Fire Bomb" which is one of Rihanna's best songs imo. It's just absolutely packed full of great songs and makes for a truly great album.

good choice

I go for Alicia Marie - Smoke and Mirrors
released in 2006 and hard to get your hands on the CD these days but if you can it really is a beautiful album, I put it on lay back and let it play from start to finish

This is one of my favourite McFly albums I played this to death when it came out.

"I Speak Because I Can" by Laura Marling is a favourite of mine. It only has ten tracks which is the perfect amount in my opinion. I listen to the is album a lot when I'm driving at night. Her music sounds perfect in rainy weather and at night.

"Rated R" by Rihanna is probably my favourite of her releases closely followed by "Good Girl Gone Bad". I bought another copy of "Rated R" recently because I'd lost my original copy. I play it a lot in my car.

"Back To Black" by Amy Winehouse is fantastic, in my opinion. It would have been interesting to see what else she could have produced if she were here. This album is her musical legacy.

"Brand New Eyes" by Paramore. I'm a huge fan of this band and I wanted to add their most recent album but that one took a couple of listens whereas I loved "Brand New Eyes" on first listen. I play this album regularly in my car along with their self-titled fourth album.

Most of Joni's albums and songs fit that description. Never thought Blue was her strongest (neither do most Joni fans from what I gather) although obviously it's a very good album. Court And Spark and Hejira were better IMO and very different musically. C&S is far less melancholy (Joni's 'happiest' sounding album) and Hejira is melancholia again and more intense than Blue but in a more more bluesy. than folk style. Many rate that one now as her best although it's not as easy a listen as Blue to start with.

Completely agree with the ones in bold! Personally consider 'Meat Is Murder' to be slightly superior to 'Strangeways' though.

Of more recent times, other albums that spring to mind immediately for me are:

Arctic Monkeys - Humbug
La Roux - Trouble In Paradise (can take or leave the majority of the first album, but there's not a track I skip on this)
The War On Drugs - Lost in the Dream
NoughtiesMusic

TLC - CrazySexyCool (not a single track is worth skipping. Just a masterpiece in contemporary R&B)

Aaliyah - Aaliyah (her final, self-titled album. One of the very best mainstream R&B albums released in the 00s. So versatile, daring and a real subtlety)
