How Long Does A Chicken Last?
Rampent

So, I buy a hot chicken from Asda and eat a little and place it next to my tinnys. The room is mostly cold. How long would it take for the chicken to go manky and kill me?

Opines?

Covered in a cold room. A day or two maybe. Longer if you refridgerate. It should be ok to eat.

To go manky could take a few weeks.
To kill you though it doesn't have to go manky. It just has to be teaming with bacteria such as e.coli or salmonella. That could be a few days left out.
You would probably smell it was bad before it looked bad.

This is just off the top of my head. Look it up for more scientific advice.

Thank you. I just thought that the big cooks and stuff stick it straight in a fridge?

Always better in the fridge until you want to eat it.

Just make sure you let it cool first, before you put it in the fridge

Seriously? two days in a cold room unrefrigerated? That would frighten me to no end. But then again, when I went to school abraod in France, they told us for those with no refrigerators, to stick the food on the window ledge to keep. Luckily I had a fridge.
