Harlequins and Violins

I followed sound
Until I found
A lavish country ball,
A masquerade, a rich parade
Attracting one and all.

The guests were masked,
As strangers basked
A Moët quenched my thirst,
Silk dresses flowed and while they glowed
A string quartet rehearsed.

Then harlequins
To violins
Appeared before the throng,
No answers save the steps they gave,
Fleet-footed, lithe and strong.

And yet despite
The black and white
Stealth of those dancing kings,
I witnessed there a face so fair
It outshone all these things.

The harvest moon
That made us swoon
Looked gorgeous high above
And with the view somehow I knew
We both would fall in love.

I asked her name,
She felt the same,
My fantasy came true
While harlequins to violins
Danced on the whole night through.

Forever I Will.

Last boat to civilisation.
Goodbye my love, my nation.
The children will be fine.
Good grief! Is that the time.

God knows what kind of error
initiates such terror
as seen daily on this street,
where often I would greet
all comers to my shop.
When will this madness stop.

Last chance to get away.
You still feel you must stay?
Our world has gone to hell.
The Oyster's now a shell.

So please come too my dear.
Without you I fear
the brand new world we face
will never be my place.

We could pay back the fare.
This lock of your hair,
this photo of you're smile.
Forever I'll.

Be Still

Do you think me so profound
as I see you from place to place
as I see upon your face
words that have come from
above as some may in as love
guided so when needed from
be still my love whenst have came
as so as pure strength prevails

Love Doth Promise

I'm not as you say
as your words of unjust
my sister knows truth
so say such truth
before what falls upon
a shadow that is not true
and a light will shine
so bright because of you
so say such truth
as promised dwell as so
because as we part
love doth promise

Erroneous Monk.

Spell casters all a Twitter
All flowery with glitter
Few care what they say
No excellence today

Except right here of course,
where words are clear as Morse
Except when said in error
Life's good, "accept" the terror.

But; the piss shall not be taken.
No matter how mistaken:
Thou shalt not point it out.
After all, there's always doubt
that the author's 'all there'.
Some do dare.

So say goodbye to freedom
and hello stupid season.

The need to flee civilization is growing I fear John. There's little doubt that humanity has screwed up the planet. All we can do is find a way to live in it and dodge the horrors if possible.

Love see where
Love remembers love
What a beautiful piece Sandy - I've found love but it hasn't found me unfortunately. Maybe it's my destiny. A lovely poem about love

A fascinating poem John - atheists may become the majority one day. I believe, although it took many years before I did. The views of non-believers always interest me

Gone

Forum's deserted
threads all dead
I love this one - what a great opening I like the pace that drives the poem along and the evocation of that time, usually half-way through the night, when the forum dies out

Keep 'em coming John

So shut the f*** up
and give your attention,
show your respect
to an artist at work.
Amazing Scottie - it must be so frustrating to read your material out and be ignored or heckled. Ignorance is bliss as they say I'm far too shy to even attempt such a thing

to park a poem
so full of worth
and meaning
Yes there is Scottie Snapped is great, with a totally original format. Please keep contributing - the thread is better for your presence, as it is for all the writers who post here

Book update: The glorious weather has slowed me down a bit, but progress is still being made The running order's finalized and I'm currently working on the last big re-write, The Guru, which is about Charles Manson. It's reached 18 verses without even getting to the terrible murders that occurred.

I'm looking at a late summer publishing date now. Keep smiling and writing my friends

Poor Archie the Trumper isn't next to Charles Manson is he ?

Don't even think about finding the unicorn poem until you've finished your book. I'll remind you in the Autumn

'Life...is..just...a Box...of...Football' (American drawl)

Play the game,
Innovation not constriction
Contest conformity of expectation
And the endless lists of must do’s
And the endless lists of can’t do’s.
Shred them all
Should the linesman define a boundary
Send him off
No brick wall
Have a ball

When you breach the defence
Don’t score an own goal
If you do, find the keeper
Send him off too
He should have saved you
Use Kung Fu
If you have to
If the air is blue
Forget the ball
It means sod all.

Who chose this referee
It wasn’t me.

Thanks for all the comments on my stuff Musty. Late Summer will be fine.

BiB: Oh, OK then, if you insist.

Spring Dub.

My mind's made up.
My overflow cup
is full of beans.
Buy my dreams.

My crotchety keys
are bound to please.
My ace of hearts
is off the charts.

This incredible height.
This appetite.
This lovely thing:
I dub thee Spring.

Sweet Sparrow

Sweet sparrow of the hedges, I have a seed for thee
I’ll hold my hand in stillness, to tempt you from your tree
Here take it as a morsel, as thanks for all your song
It wakes me in the morning, I hear it all day long.

I see you seem too frightened to come down from the birch
I promise not to harm you, so fly down from your perch
Can’t you tell I mean to feed you, don’t you want to taste this grain
If I bow my head in silence will my waiting be in vain.

At last I get the notion if I place it on the ground
And hide among the bushes, you might just come around
As I place the kernel gently and retreat so out of sight
A squirrel comes and grabs it, you missed out…serves you right.

Nice poem about Sweet Sparrow

Here's a poem about Little Robin

Little Robin

Little Robin on a tree
how you sit so merrily
from branch to branch
and then tree to tree
sadly no song as sparingly
