That pulled at my heart strings
Well; tune them up and caress them with the bow of sadness, for tomorrow there is joy.

This is a lovely thread to read.

Not much of a poet myself don't really like to reveal much of my feelings on a public forum.

Very English stiff upper-lip I know!

Your threads are much appreciated too. Some said you got a permaban recently. I was sad.

This thread has been like an oasis to me, at times when I've been arguing the toss elsewhere. It's mostly calm and peaceful here - and then someone drops in a gem...

Meanwhile:

CPU.

Cherry Pickers United
choose what they like.
Love unrequited?
Choose a fast bike

and ride like death
is on your tail.
Take deep breath.
Thou shall prevail.

No rhyme or reason?
Much indecision?
Talking of treason
without precision?

File for divorce
and anchors away.
Buy a white horse
and never say neigh.

Eggs in one basket?
Certainty fixed?
All that you ask it
comes back mixed
with terms and conditions,
reasons why not
and refused permissions.
Not your plot.

Well there you go
and here I am.
Drowning in a sea of spam.
While all the while
whispers away.

See you all again someday.

Be Prepared !

I read about the Earth flipping over on its axis
I wondered if we’d all fall off
Hope the folks on the bottom don’t drop.
Maybe what we need is a practice twizzle
So when the flipping starts
We’re ready for the flop

I saw a film about an ice-age cometh
I wondered if we’d all turn to blocks
Maybe what we need is to all stop shaving
So when the freezing starts
We’re as ready as an arctic fox.

Don’t watch Alien Invasion 2
We’re knackered if that happens.

Bong Voyage.

As blind as a bat and as cuckoo as clocks.
Laid out flat in my best socks.
Contemplating how I've been
overstating what I mean.

As white as a sheet on a sunny day.
Afraid of the heat coming my way.
Hypnotic tock hyper mind.
The aftershock that's so unkind.

The empty lifeless gulf between
serenity and one more dream
is over and before you know
much slower than the slowest slow
much brighter than the brightest light.

Congratulations! You were right
in spite of all their tempting trips.
Delightfully your flop flips
and roses grow where there were none.
You're nowhere and your day is done.

Archiver tells me that tomorrow there is joy.
I hope he's on the button.
It's not that I actually know this boy,
But, from what I read he is a good 'un.

Belly button made me laugh out loud
with her poem about films I've seen.
I couldn't pick her out of a crowd
Yet her writings make me beam.

I think Mr Mustard is the one
who started this thread long ago.
And for quite some years it's continued on
He is someone I'd like to know.

I'm sure there are hundreds of others here
Who's names have not yet stuck with me.
I will read them all, have no fear,
But I will always remember these three.

You'd be amazed at how cathartic it can be to just get stuff written down .... ( assuming there are emotions you need to rid yourself of ) .... so let the lip slip once in a while

Gerrit writ!

Good.

You joined too late to read the poem I wrote earlier in the summer, so here it is:

Not poetry but sheer genius from Eric.

Well I dunno WHY anyone would say that was anything other than pure genius!

Pearls before swine methinks

I prefer life in the slow lane John - everything's going a bit too fast for me these days

I couldn't live the way you do
I'd hate to be in your head.
Great poem Ruth, but the person in it sounds a real creep. I think to write poetry, you have to be thoughtful and have empathy with others. Writing's a solitary pleasure for me; I feel those who run with the 'in-crowd' or act selfishly in life aren't cut out for it.

Some say revenge is a dish
That's always best served cold.
Indeed - but it tends obscure the good things in life. I think William Blake wrote:

Damn braces,
Relax blesses

Roughly translated - damnation tenses you up and mellowing out soothes the soul. He knew a thing or too that bloke

Just for a moment time stood still
we were lost in each others stare.
What a lovely poem Ruth It sounds like that 'love at first sight' moment. I could almost picture the scene with the musician playing

The Sea of Insanity
The Good Ship Circumvent is a vast improvement on the Good Ship Lollipop. Good poem too

Glastonbury Tor

Somerset,
A bell is tolling,
Summer's set
The pilgrim's rolling.

Up the line
Of good St Michael,
Start to climb
The ancient cycle.

On the way
Absorb the glories,
Green and high
The pagan Tor is.

From the top
The view is splendid;
Angels with
King Arthur blended.

Drink and laugh
And all make merry
On the hill
Of Glastonbury.
