Some sort of crate? It’s walls feel like they’re crushing me I must admit Elyan, this made me feel claustrophobic! With Halloween approaching though, it's an ideal poem for the time of year. I must compose a horror ode in time for the 31st

Nightmares
Elyan wrote of being buried alive! That's bad! Musty and BB agreed It's a nightmare most of us had. Then there's the one where you're flying wearing only a little vest. All on the ground are looking up as the garment barely covers y'chest! A common one is running away from some demonic face. But there's jelly in y'wellies You can barely get up a pace. The falling one is awful too just plummeting down and down knowing that any minute you'll splatter on the ground! There's one where all my teeth fall out. I just look into my hand and see them simply lying there! That toothless look ain't grand. But the nightmare that beats all comers Is when a larger girls clothes pinch. She's good as gold the whole week through and the scales don't move an INCH!

I don't think I've ever had a nightmare in my life, mind you I can't usually remember dreams at all. Strange, because I still remember those I had as a child as clear today as they were then.
Loving your poems by the way. They are very 'human' ![]() Never????? (had a nightmare) ... well you must be one very cool, calm, collected Lady ![]() Nightmares are the process by which we deal with 'issues' which cause us anxiety (so I'm led to believe). It COULD be that you don't remember if you generally don't remember dreaming. And Thank You for loving my poems You knock out some corkers y'self! ![]() ![]()

That time of Year
The time of year is upon us when we put away pretty things. Now's the time to 'go all Goth'. Black make-up and skull rings. Or get a t-shirt shredded and attempt to appear dead. That zombie look is popular or so I heard it said. Vampires are a big hit wild eyes and bloodied lips and don't forget those sharp fangs Red dripping from the tips. The face from scary movie like Edvard Munch's 'Scream' Slip on the mask and jump out! The shock will be extreme. I'm fond of the Black widow She mates then eats the male Though I'm sure the men among us Will shudder and turn quite pale. Ghouls and gore and nasty things make the day a unique one, Halloween is once a year And it's all just jolly fun.

Wooooooooooo !
There’s a ghost sleeps in the attic You can hear the snoring creaks I thought it was a mouse with clogs Emitting the howling shrieks. Up I went to find it Fish net in my hand A torch I’d wedged between my teeth Donned Rambo style headband Into the gloom I foraged Tripping on the junk The torch had blown a gasket I soon had lost my spunk Then I spied a candle I lit it with a match Now brave again determined To make a furry catch But Santa was too shocking Stowed away behind a box I dropped the candle holder And fire raged like the pox So when you come to visit And hear the attic banshee Don’t think it is a mouse with clogs In fact it’s really me ....

Dream
Floating slow above the fog, Near a moonlit forest floor, A spider moves on a blackened log, Where the crawling creatures bore Their whispers come, to call my name, From beyond the quiet air, Like imps who play their ugly game, When the boy is here to scare I know my fate, this quiet night, As I slowly drift around, To wait for hell to show it’s fright, As my eyes fix on the ground Then o’er an inky, silent pool, The dream god ends my sleep, Before the hands of an awful ghoul, Can drag me to the deep |

Feast of Blood
Why so pale my love , my dear Be your sleep disturbed at night I feel you are not all thyself Come here into the light Thou recoils illumination so And feel yet cold to hand Such glassy eyes of staring Too strange to understand. Ah, the night is closing It appears you are yet fresh I see your blood is coursing So warm is now your flesh Your passion is my ardour Yet somehow fear I feel Abandon has become your lust My doubting I conceal First pain is the emotion As you drain away my soul Through hideous fangs now sinking So deep into their hole And now when it is over Your bloodied smile I know For as you turn to wipe your lips Glance mirror blank of cameo |

Louise in October
Louise, if I'd known just one person like you, My life would have changed, it's undoubtably true; I picture the leaves being blown from the bark And me walking home alone in the old park. A schoolboy who couldn't speak up or be loud, A schoolgirl who didn't fit in with the crowd, If only we'd met in the October grey, Returning from school at the end of the day. But how can two lonely souls ever once sing Or muster the courage to say anything? Perhaps if I talk to you, breaking the ice, Then tell you a joke; a brave roll of the dice. My desperate ploy somehow forces a laugh, The rarest of moments on my homeward path, It helps to unlock all the barriers that Keep us from connecting and we start to chat. You tell of your interest in poets and books, Not overnight fashions or movie star looks, In Tolkien's epic, why oceans are blue And what the world means, not in who's dating who. The last to get picked for heroic sports teams, Like me, you sit through the term lost in daydreams, Preferring things quiet, avoiding the fuss, The chatter and babble that's heard on the bus. Young people enjoy fun nights out and new trends, They search for adventure and like-minded friends, Unable to understand how our kind feel, Who spend time alone because shyness is real. If my school tormentors start hurling abuse, Their unthinking insults won't be any use, Their words will be easy for us to ignore, For you and I Louise have gained so much more. As golden leaves fall amid laughter and talk And dusk fills the park on our lingering walk, I'm wondering if, after saying hello The friendship we've found may eventually grow. And while you look round at October Louise, Absorbing the colour of autumnal trees You'll be unaware of me noticing too How they are surpassed by the beauty of you. © |

With hindsight, The Designer is flawed throughout. The volume's too slim, the book's dimensions are wrong, the poems are set out in a DS style with bold titles and a number of errors slipped through the net too. That said, I'm still happy with the content and front and back covers. There's going to be a big improvement - if The Designer was a drop, the next book's an ocean
