Cessna 9 to Base

'I'm not sure what I've got,
Bright as a supernova
In front of me it shot,
Is traffic busy? Over.'

'Is that you Cessna 9?
I'm giving confirmation:
Night skies are clear and fine,
What's your exact location?'

'Five thousand feet, no more,
A rapid thing came my way
And vanished with a roar
Above the empty highway.'

'I copy that, stand by,
Was it some plane you know there?
Can you identify
Or is a UFO there?'

'A light glowed red and green
So fast I couldn't scan it!
If that was a machine
It wasn't from this planet.'

'Our sensors show no sign
Of anything enormous,
You'd best land Cessna 9
Back here and then inform us.'

'Above again I see
The thing is moving slower,
It's far too close to me,
My god it's getting lower!'

'The line is not intact,
You're breaking up, there's hissing,
I've lost radar contact,
Come in, have you gone missing?'

'They've taken me inside....'

Light of the Stable

And as Christmas Day
Comes around once more,
Let's try to remember what it's all for.
Amen to that - great write Wizzy It must have taken a while to compose such a lengthy piece. You have to remind yourself that Xmas isn't just about guzzling and drinking sometimes

Welcome back by the way

ONCE I SAW A COMET

Once I saw a comet with a wonderful glistening tail.
Visionary stuff - I like the different perceptions of the comet, something that can actually affect history. The first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity, Constantine I, apparently did so after seeing a cloud shaped like a cross in the sky

Nothing better than dancing to Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven in the dark. When I'm feeling stressed it works like magic
I'm very into a bit of Rock myself these days

At the moment my faves are Poison / Alice Cooper ... and Rock Me / Great White ....
Y'can whip up a very interesting simultaneous hip/head grind thing to those two ...
the kinda moves you only dream of doing when you're alone

Hi guys. Not posted on here for sometime. But it is great to catch up with a few of your poems. I will try and read as many as I can and give some thoughts in due course. I hope you are all well. With December now upon us and Advent in full swing, I wanted to share a poem with you that hopefully reflects upon the true meaning of this special time of the year. Hope you like it.

Light of the Stable

The night air was cool, not a cloud in the sky,
And hundreds of precious sheep passed by.
Shepherds were seated upon the rocky ground
And heavenly glory shone all around.
Hello wizzywick ..... wild stab in the dark here ... but I get the feeling you're a 'regular' on the poetry thread
Am I spookily right?

Anyway, nice to see you, LOVE the poem and I look forward to reading more of them

James walked down the street
And hoped he'd see a sheet
But all he saw was Pete
Who looked all neat
Because he’d just washed his feet
And had been sucking on Sandra’s Teet.

May

May you spend the hours
Where the bluebells sigh,
May you see the flowers,
Not just pass them by.

May you sit and listen
To a favourite song,
May the river glisten
As it flows along.

May you taste the honey
And enjoy good health
Rather than the money,
Therein lies your wealth.

May some quiet thinking
Help you do what's right,
May a sun that's sinking
Paint the skies at night.

May you be contented
When all roads are trod
And when life's relented
May you find your god.

here is a limerick about incontinence.

There was an old lady from Crewe
who covered her buttocks with glue
and when she sat down
in the centre of town
she made quite a hullabaloo

I love limericks !
I joined this forum because of a thread in chatter where posters would write one limerick line each . It was hilarious at times. Yours would have been a winner

Great sentiment Musty. Your poem reminded me of this :

'What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.'

I've been listening to HEAPS of music lately ..... it's not just the tunes I love .... some lyrics are quite FABULOUS ...... here are verses from three songs which are stuck in my head at the moment.
No prizes for guessing the somgs

ONE

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
Of how we found the same old fears

TWO

I'm a Porsche with no brakes
I'm invincible
Yeah, I win every single game
I'm so powerful
I don't need batteries to play
I'm so confident, yeah.

THREE

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
