A Matter of Perspective
An old man in his chair sat and stared at the wall, The doctor declared it was due to his fall. He didn't move for hours, nor stop at his gaze, ‘I’ll give him some pills, to stave off his daze’. The old man refused them, cried ‘What’s all the fuss !’ ‘I’m watching a spider, I’m not catching a bus’. ‘All of you young ‘ens run around all day long, Once I was the same, but now know it was wrong’. ‘I like watching insects and at last have a chance, To study their habits with more than a glance’. ‘And now that I can, you all think that I'm ill, You send for the doctor and force feed me a pill’. Those stood around him at once felt a shame, They hadn't considered we aren't all the same. So they each took a chair and stared at the wall, All sat in waiting for the spider to crawl. Not long were they seated when the old man smiled, He new he had foxed them and somehow beguiled . He took off his glasses and gave eyes a rub, ‘Enjoy all your evening, I'm off to the pub’. So when in your dotage, disguise contemplation, Or the well meaning carers might bring medication! Indeed state it clearly, that would be the best. Have ‘I love doing nothing’ tattooed on your chest. Made me smile A LOT!

The Land Of Little Thought
They shop and load so many, Waste plastic bags for free, Few rarely using any Of theirs repeatedly. The lemmings pack and squander In queues of plastic shame, Too few inclined to ponder What creatures they will maim. There’s something in the aura, There’s something in the air, Like gardens without flora Sometimes I just despair. It’s easy to keep litter And find the nearest bin; Neglect the trash on Twitter, Go there and drop it in. And if rather than blank you A stranger helps today It’s not hard to say thank you As you go on your way. I’ve noticed parents clearly Wreck children they ignore, The discipline’s not nearly As good as once before. Kids scream on every outing But guardians don't stall The unattended shouting, Oblivious to all. Now bad manners are rising With common sense not taught, Our name is not surprising: The Land Of Little Thought. © |

Sonnet
Though thy heart may be frozen and eyes fixed by tears Search not for true love for true love will find thee. Though thy soul aches, forsaking love’s embrace Seek not, for thine eyes will betray what thou longst to see. Bear not the journey to discover love’s delight For falsehoods prey, gladly forced and embraced. Seek and ye shall find the merest etched desire And clothe in delight that which is not wished yet chased. For true love’s embrace will find the passive seeker To merge shared, yet disparate paths and create A truth fresh with the ease of newly discovered love For those who fall gentle, oblivious to fate. True love finds and binds the matching souls So each through the other’s life, love flows. |

Call me a cynic Archiver, but I don't think we'll see (no, I know we wont't) your ideal world in our lifetimes...........and perhaps it will never materialize. One thing's sure if it does we'll be fast asleep forever and never know about it.

Of course you might manage to travel to another universe and find it - who knows. Gulp! "Another universe"? 1's work is never done.
![]() Doomed. Oil fired madness briefly lit. Tried to turn it down a bit, but more and more and more switched on and when it's gone it's gone. Gone. Post peak so bleak. I can hardly speak. Starving billions. Wars of opinions. All trees cut down to heat mankind's last retreat. All that moved, consumed. Man; you are so doomed. |

I keep thinking the apocalypse is inevitable Archiver. All empires and species collapse in the end it seems. Doomed sums up the feeling perfectly - I didn't find it depressing, It was more like a confirmation of future events.

To a Barmaid
There is a young barmaid called Hannah Who smiles at each good bloke and spanner, Her dog's name is Harley, Not Fido or Charlie And she serves with such a nice manner.

Don't feel obliged. It looks like there's an oval blotch in the background radiation, but when you get closer - it's just as random as the rest of it. So I'm a monoversist me.

Dreaming of eternal sleep. All cosy in the saved keep? While galaxies collide and thrive - would we not dream we are alive? But no; to dream requires a brain to look and see and feel the pain and death is final in extreme. Unless, of course, we are the dream.:sleep:

![]() I'd just like to say what a spiffing start Part 4 has got off to. In other good news, I finished the last three poems for the Avebury suite the other day. It comes as a relief, for while I've enjoyed writing it, constructing a whole cycle of poems on one topic is very time-consuming. The epic in particular was very hard to complete, taking three weeks and a great deal of research in the process. The books I've used for information won't be credited, so this seems a good time to do so. Thanks to the authors below and their brilliant publications:Aubrey Burl - Prehistoric Avebury Julian Cope - The Modern Antiquarian Neil Mortimer - Stukeley Illustrated Mike Pitts - Hengeworld Lynda J Murray - A Zest for Life, the story of Alexander Keiller And of course, the superb website Avebury a present from the past ![]() http://www.avebury-web.co.uk/ |

Hmm. Deep, very deep. I'm expecting oblivion, and as I'll simply be a pile of ash, I don't think I'll be disappointed - enjoy it while you're here is my motto. Dreaming of eternal sleep.
