Rambling Thoughts
The lack of walkers I observe, Obesity's depressing, A great invention was the wheel But legs, they are a blessing. © |

H'mmm, why on earth did I jot down, or rather tap out, that little ditty here? Poems written electronically are very rare for me. If I do attempt them I have my own file, which has unlimited time. The dreaded DS edit rule is no friend of poetry
Anyway, Rambling Thoughts should read:The lack of walkers now is real, Obesity's depressing, A great invention was the wheel But legs, they are a blessing.

In the street had stood a pleasant tree
It dwelt there tall as long as a little me Present in that long past of our family Each's roots settled firm and presently Adhered as much as mortals ever may Its timbers withstood winds and decay. Abiding certainty as others uncertainly Went on their chosen way our old tree As my kin took their leave, held ground; A ton of Christmases hundreds of leaves On I thought would hang around for more days of green bag fills, Autumn's chores. But no oh no! A sawing noise I'd heard Yet never saw the cause the local hands had fled, that stump set in plain pavement bled, to my eyes, from its paid assassins' saws. Our lovely London plane was slain peremptorily lumbered off in a corporate cart to the corporation downtown dump in her wake, and in this throat, is a lump.

Swirling, twirling, dance and spin
Leaves of gold, red, orange and green Shaking, rattling, skeletal and bare Branches of winter, but not despair Sprouting, shooting, begin to bud Spring time blossoms from the mud Dancing, sighing in the Summer rain Leaves of the sprial begin again |

I thought the first one was perfectly acceptable.

Dancing, sighing in the Summer rain
Leaves of the sprial begin again Every part of this poem has a vivid image of nature, it's like watching a short film in colour! I especially like the second verse - 'Branches of winter, but not despair' is such a positive message. The spiral at the end reminded me of the ancients, it's a symbol that often crops up in their art. Much enjoyed

Describing the Invasion
Invasion came so quickly, Aware the end was nigh It left me feeling sickly, Prepared to say goodbye. Nobody paid attention Except for just a few, An outside intervention With brainwashed victims due. You thought the tales of sci-fi Belonged inside the mind But parasites here I spy Endangering our kind. As distant as a steeple, As cold as polar wastes, Once animated people Developed alien tastes. Like Cromwell’s rule and Thatcher’s, Things changed inside our core, Were these the body snatchers I’d seen in films before? Some kept freewill and stored it, Survivors had to hide, The media ignored it Until our old life died. I only have one query, What brought about the clones? The answer’s in my theory: They purchased mobile phones. © |

A sadness
When there is a sadness all becomes a low as time it follows slowly with each it gathers so so stop, linger then quickly as time can take it's toll abruptly stand forth and soundly as those stand without so fall. |

But they try to run me down Two fingers up and a ghastly frown ![]() Plus some swear words

Belief System
I believe the ancients knew the sunset as a glory I believe their monuments tell us a magic story I believe in melodies that burst with deep emotion I believe in poems of the land, the sky and ocean I believe in underdogs who sometimes turn the tables I believe in make-believe and hints of truth in fables I believe the hostage can pretend the cell's a cloister I believe perfection is the pearl inside the oyster I believe in love although I've never really found it I believe my heart was forged with crystal walls around it I believe in yesterday, the present and tomorrow I believe some happiness means more when you know sorrow I believe we'll never grasp what lies behind creation I believe the greatest gift is our imagination I believe life shouldn’t be a dusty mausoleum I believe I’ll rise again and whisper 'Carpe diem' © |

A good one Musty, though the above is sad. Thankfully you can still carpe diem. You never know what's round the corner.
![]() The 'whisper of carpe diem' comes from the superb Dead Poets Society, one of my top five films. Here are three minutes that stayed with me a long time.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wjpRQ__lsI |

A charismatic teacher indeed...........the trouble is, whenever I see him I can only think of Mrs Doubtfire.
