If I was PM I don't think I would include Buffalo meat among the items to be sold as it is such an unknown quantity and expensive . So I suppose Luiza and her team deserve credit for including such an unknown quantity.

Has anyone tried Buffalo meat ?

I've had some horse. But not Buffalo.

Yes - it's just like beef - maybe a wee bit gamier, but if nobody told you it was buffalo, you'd think it was steak!

I haven't had buffalo meat but Jordan did have a good point - at my uni here in Lincoln there's a farmers' market in the high street every Thursday and Friday, and one of the most popular stalls is one that sells ostrich burgers (I haven't tried them myself, but I've been told by others that they're nice and taste similar to beef).

Did you knowingly eat a horse ?. I wouldn't entertain the idea of eating such a noble, beautiful creature .

Nah, it was in some burgers I bought.

No.

Why would I pay double the price of beef for what is essentially, beef?

I thought it was a terrible idea.

Question wasn't asked of me - but I have eaten horse steak years ago when I was abroad - and I knew it was horse.

It was lovely really tasty and imo much nicer than cow steak.

I've had it as a burger before, I think at some festival when I was pissed up. That being said, I can't remember if it was good.

I don't think a horse would find you as tasty .

I had an ostrich burger in Hyde Park during the daily London Live activities during the 2012 Olympics. Was really nice.

I had a buffalo burger in New York a few years ago, it still remains the best burger I've ever had.

Had buffalo (burger), ostrich (steak) and wildebeest (steak) in the past week.
All good, but wildebeest was the tastiest.

Yep buffalo is very pleasant. As a steak it can be quite lean so easy to overcook - best served rare. Quite often see it in farmers markets and you can order it on line of course. Breeding it seems to have grown in popularity in this country because of buffalo Mozzarella

Flavour would be a bit lost in a burger I think, better to use zebra for that

I've had buffalo (or maybe it was bison) in a burger at one of those Gourmet Burger places, it was really quite good but tasted like stronger beef TBH, maybe the flavour is lost in a burger.
Still I got some zebra sausages and kangaroo burgers the other day, they could be interesting

Yes, we had it in a diner when we were on holiday in Nebraska a few years back. Personally I thought it didn't have a lot of taste, but we had it served plain as a steak. It is very lean with no fat marbling like beef (which helps to give more flavour).

I've not tried kangaroo but zebra was very nice in a burger. Worst I've had was camel. It may have been the way it was cooked but it was tough as old boots and just tasted like cheap beef.

I had crocodile in a local gastropub once some years ago, it looked like a pork medalion and tasted more like chicken (Doesnt every meat taste like chicken?) Nice though.

I had a buffalo (i.e. North American Bison) burger at an open-air picnic Fort Robinson State Park in Nebraska many years ago. I thought it was very tasty.

The most exotic thing I've tried is aberdeen angus.

Nothing wrong with that! It's our choice of steak (when there is no local Farmer's Market on) if we want to cook for an occasion. We've never had a tough Aberdeen angus yet, it's always been worth spending extra pennies on.

Ditto. But not as great as an In 'N Out burger

Delicious: buffalo, wildebeest, springbok, ostrich, rabbit, hare, venison, pheasant, wild boar
OK: kangaroo, goat
Not so great: crocodile (rubbery).

Agreed. Wendy's do a superb burger but IMHO nothing beats In-n-Out. We should start a petition for In-n-Out to take over the Little Chef sites
