Pinoy Big Brother (aka the Philippine BB) also does a VTE/VTS. Viewers through SMS text a certain code to a certain number (this number depends on what mobile network you belong to) to indicate that they want to evict or save a housemate. The voting is merged, and the housemate with the most negative percentage (yes, a person can have, say, -11% of the vote, which simply means they received 11% to evict after the votes were merged), or the least positive percentage will be the one to go.

Even in vote to save,if you 2 or 3 people up,it still works as evict.Vote to save is more exciting as it weighs the value hms add to the show, people cant go in the background and sail to the final. BB11 quadruple semi final eviction is vote to evict at its worst.Aaron would not have won BB12 in a vote to evict.

I always believe that the solution should be to make it a multi-perosn vote to save, and in the process guarenteeing that the bigger characters to stay in the show, and TBH I think production realised this as well by pulling every trick in the book to make sure Speidi never faced a one-on-one eviction in CBB11.

Going back to VTE would be a massive step backwards, it encourages negativity in the voting audience and rewards being uninteresting at the expense of entertainment.

Maybe you're right actually, although what I mean is normally people like Deana would have a harder time doing well in BB with the evict vote in place.

She would be in trouble of going during the Week 5 eviction of her, Becky, Conor and Arron. It would probably be close between her and Conor.

She'd definitely go in the double before the finale along with Ashleigh, no way does Scott or Luke get more negative votes then her.

Vote to evict has caused more damage than good in the past.”

Why do you think that? She would have beaten Lydia either way in their eviction night. She had more of the vote than than Conor and Becky combined in her second eviction night, and I believe that Becky was receiving a lot of extra votes from Deana supporters on the forums! She beat the combined votes of Conor and Arron (the fans of whom, would vote against her in a vote to evict) by an even wider margin!

When Deana was next up I am pretty certain that the combined voting block of Outsider supporters would have ensured the eviction of Conor over Deana. Plenty of Luke supporters disliked Conor almost as much as Deana's did!

For similar reasons, I am confident that she would have survived the last two evictions that she was part of!

Actually this is IMO what BB13 would have looked like had we had VTE instead of VTS:

Week 1: Conor vs Lydia vs Victoria
Lydia goes

Week 2: Arron vs Chris
Chris goes

Week 3: Benedict vs Lauren
Benedict goes

Week 4: Deana vs Victoria
Deana goes

Week 5: Arron vs Becky vs Conor vs Victoria
Conor goes

Week 6: Arron vs Shievonne
Shievonne goes

Week 7: Luke A vs Lauren
Lauren goes

Week 8: Adam vs Ashleigh vs Caroline vs Victoria vs Arron vs Luke A vs Luke S vs Sara
Caroline goes

Week 9: Ashleigh vs Becky vs Victoria vs Luke A
Becky goes, Arron takes the 50k

Week 10: Adam vs Ashleigh vs Victoria vs Scott
Victoria and Ashleigh go

Final: Adam vs Scott vs Luke A vs Sara vs Luke S
5th: Luke S
4th: Scott
3rd: Sara
2nd: Adam
1st: Luke A

Now is that really better then what we got? Losing the two most important characters of the series by week 5? Lydia leaving after 3 days? Scott in the final?!

With the ABCD nom result, I'm pretty sure that Deana would have survived that in a VTE. This was not long after THAT comment that Conor made about her. This, along with that horrible Diary Room moment where he and Arron were so nasty about her and Becky when answering questions for BOTS, would have meant more people would have voted for Conor to go, (particularly as this was shown on the Friday night show, where the most votes of the week are cast). These two events would I think have sealed his fate. I think there were a lot more people that disliked Conor than there were that liked him.

We ended up with Luke as winner using vote to save. It's a complete myth that it actually works. It doesn't.

Noooo Keep vote to save your going to kill the show with Vote to Evict.

BB11 final week is the prime example of why Vote to Evict does NOT work....

Never found any truth in this to be honest. I always feel the ones who go first are the annoying OTT morons or people that are just NOT interesting.

I think they should do both voting methods, keep people on their toes week after week. Sticking to one method always makes it easy to know who'll go. I'd also like to see it so the nominated HM's have no idea they're up. Don't tell them anything, but have everyone shitting themselves all week.

To make it simpler you could do it like BB9 Germany did it:

Say if a HM received 91% to evict, that means the other 9% voted to save.

However it could be unfair as what if one HM received tons of votes to save and evict, but another receives a couple of saves and no evicts so therefore they're safe, it'd be like Deana losing to someone like Scott from last year.

I don;t think a lot of BB fans are intelligent enough to get their heads around the system though sadly.

Luke A won a series that was vote to save throughout . Not sure how that's a good example.

The only reason why I'm not a fan of the vote to save is because it's essentially a vote to win. You're voting for your favourites throughout the entire show. That's why I'm staunchly for either a dual voting system of VTE/VTS, or reverting to the original VTE. Plus the motto is "Who goes? You decide" and you're not directly deciding who goes per se.

Perhaps I'm also not a fan of the VTS because Channel 5 seems to think that we viewers don't care for the eviction percentages, or that it may create voting bias (which is absolute rubbish). I, along with many other people on this forum (I'd presume), want to know the figures. I may warm up to it a little more if they revealed the percentages more consistently (even if it's just how much voting share the evicted housemate received).

No way. BB11 Quad eviction. Imagine a VTS on that. Would have been MUCH better. Instead the evict vote gave us the worst final of all time.

VTS only works if there's more than 2 up. Too many times they only put 2 up, which means that its just the same as VTE.

Vote to save keeps the better housemates in and makes it a more interesting show to watch. I wasn't happy when I discovered they were changing it to a vote to evict, but I wouldn't want it back now.

People who are hated STILL get their comeuppance with a vote to save. Anton survived against Aden through the skin of his teeth and everyone thought he'd stay again the following week when he was up against Jem, but look what happened, people got together and voted to save both Harry AND Jem to try and get Anton out and it worked! Jem ended up getting more votes than even Jay, who was also up. It happened the previous week too, when some people thought Faye was a goner, yet she came second in the voting.

Another good example is in BB13. Deana and Becky (when she was tolerable) beat the horrible Arron and Conor. Imagine if it was a vote to evict and Conor's fanbase had managed to make Deana get the most votes in a vote to evict, it could have worked as the votes could easily have been split between Arron and Conor.

A vote to save is just better all round, to be honest.

EDIT: Oh yes, I forgot about the eviction in BB11 where three of the best HMs left in one night, which led to a miserable finale. Imagine how better the final would have been if it had been a vote to save.

It should return to VOTE TO EVICT. Not save. It's called an eviction for a reason.

It would be impossible to know the outcome.
When someone leaves it has an impact on the dynamics.
If Victoria had not been evicted in week 1 then how do we know what her fanbase would be in week 4.

Your also forgetting Deana was disliked as much as she was liked.
Even the forum had members who didnt like Deana plus conors supporters would almost certainly have used this opportunity to get rid of Deana.
And finally in a vote to evict, had victoria not built up a fanbase and was not either liked or disliked then the chances are the only ones voting to evict her would be the ones who want to save deana.
I really believe your overestimating her support.
She could not beat either Luke A or Adam in the final on a vote to win.

And someone does get evicted so im not sure what your point is here.
A vote to save is a vote for your chosen HM not to get evicted.

In the majority of big brothers across the world its a vote to save.

When there are only two housemates up for eviction it is essentially still a vote to evict, only when there are more than two does vote to save work.

So if this series follows the last couple, we will still get both.

I think it should be vote to save with the 3 or more housemates who receive the most nominations up for eviction. If there are only 2 nominated housemates it doesn't really matter whether it's a vote to save or evict.
