It doesn't have netflix, I don't have (and am not interested) in iTunes or cloud streaming, and I don't wish to be forced to jailbreak, nor be forced to create a video server to stream.

What I got does everything I want, it seems to be doing it well, and it was half the price of an Apple device that wasn't even as high spec. It also does everything straight out of the box (including streaming from my PC), rather than just some of what I want after a lot of hassle, jailbreaking and the addition of new PC software.

As you said, it's my money, so I chose to spend it wisely.”

So it streams from your PC as would the ATV but you don't want to turn your PC into a server. What do you think is happening when you stream on your device from your PC?
As others have said, we were only trying to advise you, but hey ho!

It streams directly off my existing network. No servers ect to set up. I don't have to set up anything new.

Yes, and as I said, people were and are very helpful, for which I am grateful.

Which is exactly how the Air Video app works. It's nothing more than an app. The issue you have is you didn't really have a grasp of what people were trying to explain to you. BTW from people I have spoke to Netflix on ATV works very well indeed. It appears that what you have purchased isn't without it's faults or detractors either.

This back and forth is really silly. I took everyone's opinions on board (including yours), did research elsewhere and came to an informed decision that I am more than happy with. There are a variety of reasons why what you suggested wasn't what I wanted and doesn't do what I wanted. I do not need to list them all.

I understood perfectly what people were telling me, and have a very good grasp of technology. You obviously don't like the fact I choose something other than what you recommended, it's clear from your passive aggressive suggestion that I wasted my money and your comment that I can't grasp things written in basic English.

I've met a good few Apple obsessives before and I know when I'm meeting one again. I am open minded to all the options available and choose the one that worked best for me.

If you wish to have the last word, please feel free. I simply don't care enough to respond.

To everyone else in this thread I would like to say thank you, you have been very helpful indeed and I am now enjoying my new stuff very much!

I think we know the reasons for your choice - the above quote gave you away - irrational averseness! Enjoy!
