Panasonic SA-PT170 Home Cinema USB video display settings

Hi

I have recently started to use the USB connector on the front of my Panasonic home cinema system for watching Divx videos but whenever I use it the picture only occupies a 4:3 area of the screen with a letterbox view. The screen is set to 16:9 on the tv and the output settings are 16:19 on the system though.

I have a way around this which is to select 'Zoom2' in the aspect ratio settings and this makes it fill the screen perfectly with virtually no cropping.

Does anyone know why it does this though and if it can be avoided? Also, I am having to selecting Zoom2 everytime it plays a new video so the process is a bit laborious.

Ideally I would like to have it play in widescreen automatically, whether via some settings I have not noticed or just to get it to stay on that Zoom2 view for USB.

I would be really grateful if anyone could advise me on this.

I would guess that what you are playing is actually a 16:9 image letterboxed into a 4:3 frame. If it was 16:9 full frame I can't see any reason why it would not play back in 16:9 from the start.
