Hi, my Plus automatically updates my system overnight for me.

Last week, I turned it on to find it had downloaded a Black Ops 2 file... I went to install it, and as it had finished installing, it said it was corrupted, so I just deleted it.

Today, I had a God of War Acension one? Same thing happened. What are these mysterious useless files?!

You might have a malfunctioning HDD. My HDD had a mechanical fault and I frequently had to download stuff 2 or 3 times before they would install properly. The PS3 would also crash a lot.

Replaced the HDD and all problems disappeared.

Didn't you just replace the HDD? Could be a dud

Hardrive sounds knackered, replace before you lose your files altogether

Yeah it's a new Hard Drive I've recently installed.

What I don't get though, is what are these files? Are they updates that Plus is downloading and then failing to install which is why they end up as files on the XMB?

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon crashed on me last night - twice at the same point.

Surely this can't be the hard drive can it?

There was a patch the other day for BO2 so that'll be what that was

The thing is it must have installed properly, as I just loaded up BO2 and no update is found, but why did it leave a corrupt file behind?

Don't really want to return the HDD just in case as I've installed about 250GB's worth of games on it since getting it at the start of the month!

Just downloaded a demo and it installed fine, so now updating Uncharted 3 to make sure that goes ok.

Will also do a Restoration of file system and database, because since having the new hard drive, it's installed around 250GB in a week along with installs and so on so maybe it just needs a little defrag to help it out.

If I get any more problems after that, then yeah I will have to think about returning the hard drive - bummer though as I accidently threw away the packaging!
