Dewclaw

My dog seems to have injured his dewclaw. As far as I can tell it seems to now be protruding outwards as if its been twisted inside out. Unfortunately he won't let me anywhere near it. It seems to be causing him some discomfort and he's often licking it. There's no blood and he can walk ok, so do i need to take him to a vet?

He needs to go to the vet. It might have broken high up, so will need removing so it doesn't hurt. They have a vein in so it could end up infected as well.

Better to pop him in just in case, it's bound to be a bit uncomfortable

Definately take him to the vet. They can remove it under local anesthetic.
