what do you think the prize money should be?.

I think that it should be £250000. what do you think.....

£100,000 isn't much by today's game show standards. Part of me wants to say make it a million just for the excitement of seeing how it would influence the HMs actions in the house, see how bad they want to win. But then again, I sometimes think it might be just as fun to see how giving them nothing at all would affect them as well.

Giving them nothing would likely result in a house full of people who just want to play the game 'cause they're fans of the show, and it would possibly weed out the ones after the fame and fortune.

However, if there's gonna be a prize fund, it should go up I think.

Given you have a chance of winning £250K for opening a few boxes for an hour (although having to put up with Noel Edmonds probably qualifies you for danger money), £100K is a pittance for being at BB's mercy 24 hours a day for 10-13 weeks. £50K at best buys you a year off work so you can get your life back in order.

Perhaps the prize money is low because the business-minded ones use it as a platform to launch a more lucrative career.

I'd like to see a performance-related bonus prize, something like the fans voting for a Moment Of The Week. I think this would stop people coasting through to the final and make them realise that every moment in the house counts. As long as it's a fun and positive moment and not rewarding bullying.

See I think £100,000 is enough. It may not seem much compared to other shows that only last an hour...but it still is an extraordinary amount of money. Buy a house outright, a car, holiday, start your own business?

To me I do not think BB has even been that much about the prize fund, from the viewers stand point. They could win anything and it would not effect whether I watch it or not, because I watch it for different reasons.

As a contestnat on the other hand they may want more. I remember a conversation between I believe either Ziggy and it was either Laura or Nicky from BB8 who said that it was no where near enough for what they had to go through.

That means the prize on that show is even more sickeningly too high, not that BB's prize is too low.

Well, if it's voting, then the voters can reward the 'big characters' who 'entertain' them even if the entertainment was trying to make some other HM's life hell.

£100,000 is far too high. Most people have to work years to get that much, and I think it has too much of an effect on the way HMs act and think.

£50,000 might be ok, and that's about all recent winners have been getting anyway.

I think the prize money should be drastically cut. Most contestants only want to use the show as a stepping stone for other working opportunities, not that there are many these days as the magazine shoots and spin off shows have dried up.

I think £25,000 is fair. Nearly all housemates are students, unemployed or have dead end jobs, so 25k is still a life changing sum. Use the rest of the prize money to help fund bigger and better tasks.

I think it should be more. I'm pretty sure it's one of the lowest prize amounts in any BB across the world. I know in Italian BB, they fluctuate but pretty sure one year the top prize was 1m.

250k is fair. You can win so much on shows that last an hour. Or even things like Red Or Black with £1m. DOND has a top prize of 250k for an hour. The Cube people always reach around 50k, and that's done in 45 mins.

Im happy with it being 100k,however I would love to see product placement come into full swing with cars, holidays etc being offered for housemates that make final 5.

Granted but contestants on The Cube or DOND don't usually try to hang around on our TV screens for years afterwards.

To be honest I think they all are generally to high. Even Britains got Talent which is £250,000 if im not mistaken. The Royal Variety should be the top prize for that, because people who appear on that show can make their careers.

But in general you are right that we should not have one of the lowest prize funds, I just think they should be more along our lines.

The higher the prize fund the less the budget will be for making the actual series with the house and tasks.

Now I really like that idea, but it would depend on who does the placements I suppose.

bb canada just had its first season.

the winner received $100k, a car from GM, which was a sponsor, and a $25k shopping spree at the brick, the store that furnished the house.

second place received $20k. plus, during the season, they gave away $10k in cash and another $10k brick shopping spree.

£1m would be amazing but it'd never happen. £250k or £500k would be enough to turn it into more of a game though, so here's hoping.

Whatever the prize money is, I hope the winner gets it all - no giving half of it away.

I think the winner should get 100k, 2nd 50k, 3rd 20k, 4th 15k, 5th 10k.

It would save the close runners up feeling broke and desperate.

1 million would ruin it because you so would never see any friendships building due such a sheer amount of money on offer.

100k and no splitting of prize money!

I would love it to be a million pounds but it won't happen.. £100,000 is nothing for staying in a house for 10 weeks and having your character dissected daily.. why anyone would sign up for that is beyond me.. Entertaining though I guess they don't do it for the money and more for the fame, exposure and experience...

I am fine with the way it is now to be honest, it's when they give half the prize money away that does my head in.

That just means those shows just have even more excessively high prizes than UK BB, not that UK BB's prize is too small.

£100,000 is already far too high, especially considering that other HMs who may even contribute more to the series (and can even be there for longer) typically get nothing.

Don't they get very little for even being in the house, that is more annoying to me.

Just kidding.
I've always liked the nice round figure of £100,000.

Ah I like this idea.
No touching the winner's prize money (because why should the winner have to lose out just so the losing finalists get something) but giving out prizes like this would be an exciting twist.

10p per viewer as per the average series rating.

100k was a lifechanger when it was first introduced. it still is a large amount, but peoples perceptions on the value of money has changed and they are thinking, is it worth me risking my reputation for 100k which wouldn't even buy me a shack in the middle of nowhere?

i think they need to up to anti, 500K for the winner and 100K for second place.

I think the 2nd place deserves something because normally its very close between 1st and 2nd and is split my a tiny amount.
