Twice now I have had a take from the local Chinese and woken up with the most awful headache - I've read that MSG can cause this symptom. Anyone had experience of this?
This has really put me off ordering another Chinese take out ever!

I don't have this problem, but my friend experiences horrendous headaches after eating Chinese takeaway, which he attributes to MSG. Try another takeaway.

Yeah, I have just reported them to my council for an inspection. I think there is something that needs investigation.

I am pretty sure the use of MSG is not illegal or against food standards though...I could be wrong of course.

My mum also has this problem, plus an unusually dry mouth and throat.

Yes I am for real, why? What's your problem? I have reported them because my stomach was upset all day and my head banging after eating their food! Sounds like food poisoning to me!

I have the same problem but not when I cook chinese at home or have it from MSG free restaurants.

It's really odd. It's like a really bad hangover without having drank anything! But today's was just a killer - add to that a dodgy belly. I think the place needs to be inspected. But I will definitely stay away from MSG in the future. What do they put in that stuff for it to cause such an illness?

Almost certainly dehydration - I find Chinese always makes me dehydrated. Just drink lots of fluid before you go to bed.

certainly does NOT sound like food poisoning at all!

Stefan Gates did a tv show about this with a blind taste test for those who were adamant that MSG caused them sickness. They were proved to be wrong. IIRC they suffered the same symptoms from dishes not containing added MSG.

So you eat a meal and get a headache and then report the restaurant to the council? You have issues far more serious than a headache luv.

Indeed

Posted last night about having a carry out, then posted that he had beans on toast instead. Now this morning he has a headache due to Chinese. I suspect some skulduggery afoot.

According to this

MSG can trigger off headaches. It is known as the silent killer a bit like salt.

You missed this bit:

However, researchers have found no definitive evidence of a link between MSG and these symptoms.

I always thought MSG consumption affects only certain people. I've never had a headache after a Chinese.
