This has really put me off ordering another Chinese take out ever!”

Could well be. Or a combination of MSG and salt. I know Chinese takeaways tend to use quite a lot of both. Do love the chicken curry my local one does though with the onions and peas in it. I often get very thirsty after a chinese meal.

That doesn't sound at all like food poisoning.

Maybe he/she changed their minds about beans on toast. People do right up to the the last minute.

If MSG is so bad for you, why doesn't everyone in Asia have a headache?

Believe me if you had food poisoning you really would know about it.
I'm amazed you reported them because of a headache and icky tummy. Maybe Chinese food is just to rich for you, or maybe as some of your other posts show, you just like to moan and complain a lot.

Yes, agreed. Some people are affected by MSG, some aren't. It's a bit like ordering a pizza with extra mozzarella when you are dairy-intolerant and then reporting the restaurant when you feel ill the next day. An upset stomach and a headache is not food poisoning.

Very interesting! No wonder I love parmesan so much.

This bit is worth highlighting:
Quote:
“It's not surprising that the MSG-makers are so busy on their product's image, because MSG-phobia still shows no signs of subsiding. This despite the fact that every concerned public body that ever investigated it has given it a clean bill of health, including the EU, the United Nations food agencies (which in 1988 put MSG on the list of 'safest food additives'), and the British, Japanese and Australian governments.”

I believe MSG and excessive salt used in Chinese cooking has a dehydrating effect on some of us, very similar to a hangover.

Overconsumption of monosodium glutamate and sodium chloride can usually be remedied by dihydrogen monoxide.

You've just repeated what I've said.

Too much MSG and salt can be cured by drinking water...smart arse!

Thought you had beans on toast? Either way, if you truly did call the local authority to investigate a Chinese takeaway after having a bad head, you are beyond ludicrous.

In other words, common sense. Too much sodium of any sort can dehydrate you, which obviously is not unique to Chinese food. In fact, MSG has less sodium than NaCl.

You obviously did not read my posts. I suffered from a headache and upset stomach on more than one occasion from the same outlet.
I really wouldn't be so pedantic to inform the local authorities if I just had a flipping headache!

Good God, you again. I suppose you take pleasure in reading someone's post history and trying to be somehow clever with them. Yes, I should eat beans on toast every night of the week from now and forever more. Now get off my back.

No, not me again, you just responded to my comment twice.

LOL. Perhaps his recent MSG-fest has affected his brain.
