Free calls up to 1 hour with Sky query
Does anyone know if you go over the hour of free calls period, if you have to pay for the whole call with Sky?
My mum went over by 2 minutes and would like to know if I pay for the whole 1 hour 2 minute duration or just for the 2 minutes. She is convinced she will get charged the whole amount. I am with a different company so I couldnt advise her. Thanks |

It's just the time that has gone over and that depends on whether it was day or night time. For 2 minutes it shouldn't be much at all.

I have always wondered why phone companies have an "hour rule" ??
seem weird that you can just hang up and redial and have another hour.. |

Probably to discourage having it permanently connected as some 2 way radio. Not sure though

seem weird that you can just hang up and redial and have another hour.. If there was a genuine reason (e.g. discouraging people making semi-permanent connections) they could inject some sort of warning sound. |

My mum went over by 2 minutes and would like to know if I pay for the whole 1 hour 2 minute duration or just for the 2 minutes. She is convinced she will get charged the whole amount. I am with a different company so I couldnt advise her. Thanks First package. Free unlimited calls up to one hour (then redial), but only at weekends to 01, 02, 03, 0870 numbers, but not to 0845 numbers. £0 on top of the standard line rental. Any calls made directly to Sky, mostly starting 0844 are free. Second package. Free unlimited calls up to one hour to 01, 02, 03, 0870 anytime of the day, but not to 0845 numbers, and to 22 international destinations (then redial). £5 on top of the standard line rental. Any calls made directly to Sky, mostly starting 0844 are free. If you want to play it safe when contacting Sky themselves, call them on 08000963624 which is always free, whatever Sky Talk package you are on and anytime of the day (whenever the Sky call centre is open). 0800 numbers are always free from landlines 24/7, but not necessarily from mobiles. See www.saynoto0870.com for further details. For cheaper mobile calls from a Sky landline try the link below. http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/ukcallchecker And for international calls try. http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker Call charges to the USA and Sweden, for instance, are the same, whether you are phoning a landline or a mobile, regardless if you use an indirect access number or are on Sky Talk Unlimited.
