It is catchy, but you know why? Because she stole the melody from "Where is the love"
While she was singing I was thinking I've heard the tune before. Nonetheless, I thought she was the best act on the night. I'll be honest - at first I didn't think she was very good in her audition but she has now won me over due to her performance tonight.

She's a one trick pony. I bet her other songs are poor, that's why she sang this song again just 2 days after her audition was shown.

There's a lot of speculation all over the internet , as to which song she lifted the melody from , no one has mentioned "where is the love " but found myself singing those words to the song tonight , funnily enough .

I wonder what the legalities are of releasing a song that's just so familiar ?? I'm sure somebody with musical training and knowledge will be able to pinpoint the song .
It sounds nothing like "where is the love?"

The rap parts sound dissimilar as does the melody.

Many songs take a samples from others, or sound very similar.

For example, hearsay pure and simple chorus played alongside amazing grace, also alongside around the world by oasis all are almost identical. If I remember rightly never ever by all saints falls under that too. All it is, is a similar chord sequence.

The first couple of lines of the chorus of her song sound similar to where is the love, that's it, hardly a rip off.

People can be far too harsh on pop song writers. I would argue writing a song with a catchy melody that has lots and lots of people singing along is just as talented as writing some amazing lyrics.

On the subject of last night though, I actually preferred her audition and think the song would have sounded better with an acoustic set up, tonight was slightly over produced.

Can you settle an argument .. My friend said the song was an Alesha Keys number but I said it was a song she wrote herself so who`s right lol
its an original song but it does sound a bit similiar to the Alicia Keys track called 'no one'

I didn't say that they sounded the same , I merely said that I found myself singing "where is the love" to the song .

Thousands of people online are thinking that she's "lifted " the melody from another song/s .

If any of you download or buy this song you can consider yourself a complete mug... You'd just be another puppet falling for Simons tricks.

It did sound familiar. I was surprised when I heard that she'd wrote it.

I think I got it mixed up with the Alicia Keys one, sounded very similar.

Great song, lovely kid, hope it goes to number 1
Inconsequential, derivative song, about what you would expect from an average 14 year old. To put this in context, by the age of 14, Mozart had composed 13 numbered symphonies, 6 operas, 4 piano concertos, 3 violin sonatas and a string quartet amongst other things. Move along folks, nothing to see...

How boring would last night's semi final had been if ALL the contestants had returned and done the exact same thing as they had done in their auditions?!!

Hope she's not going to do it for a 3rd time in the final:yawn:

I just wish she'd sung 'put your hands up in the air' instead of put your lighters in the air.

I don't possess a lighter. And neither should the kids who are going to be buying her records.

nice to see plenty of people have time to come on here and criticise a 14 year old girl for either:

a) playing the same song twice (which all performers do!!)
b) not being as good as mozart (?!?!?!?)
c) suggesting that at a concert people should not light their lighters and wave it in the air (have you seen a band play live)

and this from a number of people who praise The Voice "coaches" for being "constructive" and not "critical". Tut tut.

whether you "like" it or not, this is a great song for a young writer and better than anything from last years "the voice" and "x factor" winners.

yeah hope so, does she have another song for the final though?
She's written many songs. She would be very wise to sing a different song in the final

Thanks for the history lesson.
Mozart passed away a long time ago, and popular music has moved on ,perhaps you need to move on too

It does sound similar to that too, I can hear it turning into No One when she sings it for some reason, as it has similar chords. She must have taken inspiration from other songs she likes or has heard before.

Was a bit boring to hear it so soon. Both Amanda and Alesha told Philip Green last night they didn't like his performance as much because it was similar to his audition and had therefore seen it before!!

Cue Gabz with the exact same song and she's applauded to the rafters. You're so right. Obvious and blatant:yawn:
Double standards somewhat I guess with a singer its obvious the same or similar songs will be used as part of a set/gig but with a comedian its different, they have to come up with new stuff every so often.

Literally every single big artist out there has had even more serious "plagiarism scandals" than this.

Nobody actually cares, there are no consequences for the artists, and life goes on.

Why not! It has been done many times in the past,
The song was a hit with the judges, and it was a good choice, as she improved on her vocals and was more confident!

Since her age is the sole reason people are hyping the song, I thought a little context might be useful. And its the overblown praise and inevitable broken promises that'll cause her the harm. At her age, its entirely understandable that she doesn't know how to write a real song yet (or sing, or play the piano). Keep trying, work harder, take the time to find your own voice, then come back in two years, or three or four, is what the judges should have said. As it is, she won't get anywhere near the top 3 in the final and will soon be forgotten whether or not Syco release a single, and then by 15-years-old she'll be has-been forever striving to recapture past glory. Nice work, Simon!

Oh, and 'light blues' - if anyone is listening to anything published by the Syco label (or indeed anything currently in the charts) in 250 years time then I'll happily rise from the grave and eat my hat and boots.
