The average overnight audience for 5* last week (Mon-Fri) between 19:00-21:00 was 89k (0.4%). The week before it was 87k (0.4%).

Well, given the costs they claim are involved (and from Jamie East's comments on Couch Potatoes about the BB11 online feed losing money, I believe them), I'd expect they'd want a bit more than slot average. They'd be foolish to expect big things in that slot though, against the same audience soaps, I think 150k would be respectable, 200k good, but they'll decide the (hopefully realistic) margins.

Yeah but I wonder how much money it was losing, because I would see it as like a supermarket loss leader, specially now in the twitter era where people would be tweeting about the live feed creating a buzz for the highlights show and attracting more viewers, now alls we get are stupid tweets and occasional over blown stories in The Star.

It probably lost money because they gave away loads and loads free subscriptions before the show started to the people who got onto the site at a specific date and time - ie the die hard fans who would have paid anyway!

Didn't they give a thousand? That was stupid. Perhaps because I just missed out by 1 or 2 places, but I also think it was stupid to give 30 free passes to the LFLFers, the very people claiming they'd be willing to pay for a subscription live feed.

IMO charging people to watch the LF was a problem in itself. I don't see how they can't break even doing a free stream on the net and getting ad revenue.

Word of mouth and being global would bring in more viewers, bringing in more ad revenue.

I'm nooby when it comes to things like that, so I'll patiently await the correction I'm about to get.
