Ian is shocked to see his son back in Walford and he goes to hug him, but Peter wants to know what Lucy meant by Ian stealing from her- and so does Denise. Ian is completely flustered and is even more humiliated when Phil makes a joke about the situation though he doesn't show it. Danny begins to make his exit and Ian begs him to stay- but since Lucy is apparently the boss, he approaches her though she insists that the restaraunt certainly wasn't her idea. Meanwhile, Janine hunts for Michael and lift up Scarlett in front of him: she tells him to wave goodbye because this will be the last time that he will see her.

While everyone is distracted by Ian's shock revelation, Lauren takes some of the alcohol intended for the guests though Jean chides her. Lauren ignores her and carries on and soon makes a spectacle of herself when she sees Peter again and tries to kiss him to make Joey jealous. Though this succeeds, Max is forced to drag Lauren home unceremoniously. Back a the Branning house, Max and Tanya shout at her but it is Cora who takes action- she sits Lauren down for a chat. Tanya is against this but Cora hushes her and tells both parents to leave. Cora tells Lauren about all she went through with Rainie but when Lauren tells her gran that she is always on the booze, she has no reply.

Back at the restaurant kitchen, Sharon and Denise angrily confront Ian and insist that he what he did was wrong, before Ian reminds them that Lucy took the businesses when he was at his lowest. Meanwhile, Lucy tells Peter that Ian abandoned his family and left Lucy in charge of everything without a notice- but Peter wants to hear his dad's side of things. Later, Ian explains everything to Peter and Denise, though convinced that Ian was wrong to rob his daughter, understands what happens. Peter sympathises with his father but doesn't know how to react- to everyone's surprise, it is Jean who convinces him with her experience of mental health. Peter decides to help Ian out- he offers his son another hug and the scene ends with Sharon saying 'Welcome home, babe' whilst touching his shoulder and kissing his cheek.

While the drama is going on at the restaurant, Kirsty and Roxy are working side by side at the Vic but Kirsty suddenly feels ill. Though she passes it off as some dodgy fish she had for dinner last night, Roxy is concerned when she suffers pains in her stomach. Kat, who is having a drink at the pub, offers to take Kirsty to the hospital. She declines but decides to go anyway where she gets some unexpected news.

Peter is settling back at home and is playing with Bobby but Lucy wants to talk to him. Peter says that he has nothing to say except that their family shouldn't be torn apart and the best way to do that is to give Ian his own properties back but Lucy refuses to do so. She claims that Ian isn't well enough and that she can't trust him but Peter knows her true motives and warns her that her actions will make the situation worse. Before Lucy can respond however, Dot turns up to welcome Peter back to Walford and hands him one of her famous Battenburgs. He thanks her and she tells him that she knows Ian is pleased to see her back. After Lucy leaves, he asks Dot for advice and she tells him to do what is right: Ian shouldn't have taken his daughter's money but then, Lucy shouldn't have attacked Ian at his most vulnerable. She tells him that he loves his children and he worked hard to build those businesses for him and for his family. Peter thanks her and says that he will get the businesses back but will also try to keep on Lucy's good side.

He does confide in her about Leanne in Devon and it is clear that he is hiding something but Dot advises him to follow his heart and do what he wants. As for Lucy, Dot tells Peter that she needs to be put in his place.

Meanwhile, Carol is still in a mood and she admits to Bianca that she is going through the menopause. Bianca scoffs that the menopause is nothing but Carol doesn't tell her the true extent of her fears. She bumps into Masood and apologises for how badly that she has been treating him. Mas wants an explanation but when Carol doesn't offer one, he storms out. Later, Bianca sees Mas at her market stall and tells him about the menopause which surprises him. However, he isn't the only one surprised as when Bianca gets home, she receives a shock of her own when she sees a letter for her.- but who is it from?

At the Vic, Alfie and Roxy are livening up the atmosphere and injecting some life into the pub with a karaoke night. Kat seeks out Kirsty and asks her that she must tell Max she was lying- what will she say when the baby is born later than expected? Kirsty isn't fazed as she now can now keep her husband since she is expecting. She turns around and claps to a drunken Billy warbling into a microphone but Kat is still wary. Watching Billy sing makes Roxy drag Alfie into the middle of the Vic and they start dancing whilst Kat glares at the pair.

While it is fun and games at the Vic, the Square has a very different atmosphere as Janine hunts Michael down and pins him against the wall. She tells him to leave Scarlett alone but he just snickers and tells Janine that she won't cope alone and will just fail, like her saint of a father. He reminds her that Alice is on his side- dippy, naive Alice who is desperate to do his bidding and with a click of his fingers, she'll do whatever he wants.

Duff Duff: Michael Moon

Michael smirks as Janine stands up to her full height and reminds him that she killed one husband and tried to kill another- and as they say, three's a charm.

Latest Cast Changes

EastEnders bosses have revealed that characters will be joining the soap over the summer while a big character will be leaving over the year.

There will be another addition to the Beale clan this August as Cindy Beale Jnr will make her return to the soap, played by actress Mimi Keene. Cindy lived in Devon and adored her half brother Peter; missing him she will travel to Walford but what will Ian make of the new arrival?

Executive Producer IanMandy said: 'The Beales represent the very essence of EastEnders and its important that they remain a solid force.' IanMandy also revealed that the character of Sharon Rickman will be more closely involved in future stories whilst Bianca Butcher will begin to rediscover her Beale roots. In addition, Mandy Salter will be returning in July and will form part of that clan.

Three new characters will also be making their way to Walford over the summer. Tessa Wyatt will be playing a woman named Betty, tipped to be a romantic interest for Patrick Trueman whilst Tony O'Callaghan will portray Ollie Walters, a potential partner for Jean Slater.

'Patrick and Jean are quite lonely characters and hopefully, both will become regular characters in the future,'

Meanwhile, former Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas will be arriving in Walford as bad boy Jake Stone. Despite oozing sex appeal , the girls will be disappointed when they discover that Jake is gay- but will do whatever he can to get what he what he wants.

'Jake will be used to represent the gay community but will be far from the stereotype and will be far more complex a character rather than be defined by his sexuality.'

In addition, one major EastEnders character is set to leave this year.

Shane Richie, who plays landlord Alfie Moon, will leave Walford later this year after the Vi falls into new management. It is as of yet unknown who the new landlord will be and how Alfie will lose the pub. Over the coming weeks, Alfie will return Roxy's feelings which could potentially overshadow his love for Kat. Though it is unknown who he will ultimately end up with, Alfie's exit will have huge ramifications for many Walford residents.

I'm not sure who Alfie should be with..
I've always liked his scenes with Roxy but him and Kat are apart of EastEnder's history.

I'm looking forward to Cindy joining the Square. How old is she meant to be? Maybe a new friend for Liam?

I'm also looking forward to seeing Jake. I'm guessing he's going to be Danny's boyfriend.

I can't wait for your next episodes

Bianca is surprised to discover that David contacted her and tells Carol but is angry when she discovers that he has been sending her letters before. Bianca rows with her mum about the letters. There is then a knock at the door and Masood greets his girlfriend, handing her a letter- but Carol quickly averts the postman's gaze when she realises its from David. Inside is yet another plea for her to contact him but Carol can't reach him. Things worsen when Bianca asks how Masood fits into the Carol/David equation ad she doesn't answer.

Elsewhere, Sharon and Tanya discuss Lauren's problems and Sharon tells her mate all about Angie- and how she eventually died from cirrhosis of the liver. Tanya refuses to believe that Lauren is an alcoholic but after Sharon talks about her upbringing, Tanya is forced to agree. Later that evening, Tanya tries to take Lauren's mind off booze and temporarily succeeds when she forces her on a walk.

At Booty's, Poppy and Lola are tending to customers but the older girl voices her concerns about Alice's affiliation with Michael and thinks something could go wrong. Lola discusses Abi's problems regarding Lauren's drinking and as the two exchange their friends issues, they each realise that they can confide in one another. A strong friendship develops between the two girls and Lola tells Poppy something that she has been thinking about for some time- she wants to go back to school while working as a mum and beautician. Poppy agrees to back her all the way.

Meanwhile, Alice is left desperate when Michael tells her what Janine said to him about taking Scarlett and insults her. Joey sees that Alice is upset and threatens Michael, who pretends to have not understood a word that he has said. Incensed, Joey throws himself at Michael- he dodges out of the way and Joey ends up out of the bedroom window and onto the street below. Alice screams for him and Kat comforts her- Lauren sees her cousin on the floor and escapes her mother's clutches. Tanya refuses to let Lauren go with him to the hospital and she once again drinks herself into a stupor- Kirsty tries to help but Tanya tells her that she is not needed. The three women are alone in the Vic and a row escalates until a drunken Lauren knocks Kirsty over. Tanya instantly helps her up but Kirsty insists that she is fine. Tanya takes Lauren home and tells her off, finally admitting that she has a problem and shames her. However, they are soon interrupted by a knock at the door.

4 Hander episode planned for August

EastEnders bosses have revealed that a 4 hander episode will air in August. The episode will show two separate storylines, featuring 2 characters each.

Original characters Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean) will be sharing scenes together in an upcoming plot which will see Sharon move in with the Beale family. Both characters will travel to America for Michelle Fowler's (Sue Tully) birthday and in the 4 hander, will delve into their past and discuss their present. According to Executive Producer IanMandy, the decision was made following agreements to allow Sharon to interact more with her people from her past and show the bond between both characters and the episode will feature a development in Sharon's addiction storyline as she chooses to confide in Ian.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Letitia commented: 'This will be a very character driven episode and will show the strong friendship between Ian and Sharon- they've been close mates for years. Adam and I really enjoyed shooting this episode which were shot on location- Sharon and Ian have just returned from Florida and are driving back from the airport and they just reminisce about old times- a few things happen that bring back old memories before discussing the present.'

Simultaneously, back in Albert Square, Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) will finally own up to her mistakes to husband Alfie (Shane Richie). Alfie is currently in a relationship with Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) though he still has feelings for Kat; despite this, he will develop strong feelings for Roxy which will leave him conflicted.

IanMandy stated: 'Kat and Alfie are two characters who have been under a lot of strain recently- especially Kat's inability to move on from her past. However, she will eventually gain closure and continue to grow- she will have her heart returned to her whilst still being strong but experience will have caused her to move on. She will become aware of how much she has hurt other people and will become more moral- but this doesn't mean she won't be perfect. Kat is a flawed character but being able to move on and grow is what makes her so interesting.

And Alfie will also find strength as he struggles with his love for both women. Shane will be leaving us which will obviously have a huge effect on Kat if she loses the love of her life. But will allow him to be not just a cheeky chappie, but also have the ability to stand up for himself when needed.'

Thanks Binboy

I like Alfie as well and I like him in the Vic- at first as now the Moons just suck the life out of it. I honestly don't know who I'd like Alfie to end up with because its very possible that either Kat or Roxy could go with him.

At the same time, if he does go alone, I'd like Roxy and Kat to put their differences aside and become friends- like Pat and Kathy did after finding common ground through their marriage to Pete
