[Game] The X Factor: Mix It Up! (series 2) Audition Show #1
Hello and welcome back to The X Factor: Mix It Up! everyone.
It's been quite a challenge sorting through the applications, but I believe I have put together an amazing all-star panel in the end. Again, I'm very sorry for anyone who didn't make it, although some of you still have a role to play! Anyway, the first round of auditions is about to hit this forum. Twenty-two acts are ready to impress the judges, with the sole purpose of making it to Bootcamp. To accomplish this, they need to get three or four yeses from the judging panel. Zero or one yes will mean elimination, yet two yeses will place an act on the 'reserves' list, meaning they will only get through to Bootcamp if there are free spots left after the final audition. Before we get to the auditions themselves, I think there's a burning question that many of you would like to have answered. WHO exactly are the judges? Judges, please refrain from posting on this thread until I have announced you. Are you ready to get to know the judges? |

All right, our first two judges were known before the application process even opened. It's our two marvelous returning judges, who have both secured victories on my games before:

This judge is anything but inexperienced. He's participated in numerous shows during his time here on DS, and is a regular player of the Never Ending X Factor Game on top of that. He has not played any of these types of games in a while, but rest assured he hasn't lost his skills. Please welcome the amazing:

Our fourth judge is also someone coming back from a long hiatus. If I recall correctly, the last act he mentored was the one and only Goldie, actually getting her really far into the competition.
Please welcome the very definition of flawless (unless you're talking about his song choices on the NEXFG ):

Anyway, I think everyone's here except for Justin, who will be here around 8.
Let's kick off the audition round with two acts from the US X Factor! Jillian Jensen (USA) [Girls] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmUL72dIbTA Christa Callius (USA) [Over 25s] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsSViYW-ZQs |

Justin's verdicts
Jillian Jensen
Jillian, I know it's the first audition, and it's probably trite of me to say this, but I teared up at your performance. Your story is one which resonates very strongly with me, and as a vocalist, I can feel your passion and emotion in every note. You're a strong person, and it shows throughout your music. Technically speaking, the vocal itself wasn't perfect, and it's important to note that. This being said, your tone and interpretive skills are top notch. I'd love to have the ability to help craft your voice, and you have what it takes to become such a strong contestant here, as long as you have the right mentoring. I think you could be world class, and I am going to say YES! Christa Callius Christa, I think you have a really interesting tone. Your vocal quality is almost girlish in it's implementation, and I think that compliments with your image really well. I do think, however, that your voice lacked a certain amount of control on those verses. Your pitch was great for the most part, and when you were singing softly, your voice was beautiful. Additionally, your belt has a real emotional quality, which sometimes borders on theatrical, but for the most part really resonates. That middle ground, however, needs a lot of work, as I pointed out on the verses. I think if you came back, with a better sound and a better song, you'd be a force to be reckoned with. Now, however, I am going to say no. |

![]() jealous you've been replaced by someone so flawless. - (and no, not Justin!!) Jillian Jensen A very interesting voice, one of which I cannot abide. Sorry, I believe the sob-story has completely covered over the lack of talent. A breathy voice with such an unforgivable lack of vibrato or any real vocal talent. There is emotional and then there is simply hard-to-watch. It’s a NO from me. Christa Callius I thought this was completely the wrong song choice to sing. It was rather emotional, yet at the same time a bit difficult to watch due to the unnecessary high pitched vocals, which do not fit the song in the slightest. Yes, I can imagine with the right song choice, there is potential of an amazing performance. However, that was not this; therefore I’m inclined to say NO this time. |

first off omg zak! You kept that one quiet
![]() Jillian Jensen You have a really beautiful raspy voice and the way you just fully inserted emotion into the song was something to really be admired. However I do think at quite a few points in the song you lost your way in the song in terms of the tune because of the emotion so I think that maybe you should next time try and hold it back a bit in that term but I think overall you have potential so Yes from me. Christa Collins Okay I think you’re quite a unique singer in terms of your vocal styling but you have this really weird way of performing as you sing that freaks me out a bit. Your voice overall is a bit meh and doesn’t really scream at me. It doesn’t make me think yes I want to mentor you, yes you have potential it just makes me think you need to improve a bit. Sorry Christa but its a no. |

Kev, are you going to post your comments and verdicts yourself or do you have other things to do? I believe I have them as well so I could post your comments if you want me to. I'd like to avoid this audition show taking ages...

Jillian Jensen: Hey Jillian, you definitely sang with a lot of emotion and it was a nice performance but for me, beyond the emotion was a lot of vocal flaws, you sang it way way out of tune at points and for me, your emotion hid the fact that your voice is really rather average, it was okay but for me it wasn't enough, it's a No.
Christa Callius: Gorgeous tone Christa, very very emotive performance, yes it was a bit overdramatic but the show is all about the drama and with that quirky tone I think we could go serious places, you are one of the freshest Overs I have came across in quite a while so it's a big Yes for me. Good Question: I absolutely love your voices girls, you are such a refreshing girlband, most girlbands are the same old same old but not only are you both equally strong but you have such an interesting dynamic. The rapping is fresh, the vocals are on point, the charisma between you two is superb and I loved it overall, 100% yes from me! Luke Bayer: Who are you and what have you done with crying Luke from Series 4? I have to say that your tone is very good and your voice is brilliant, the one thing I would say is don't be afraid to hold back because at times, I felt that it was a bit theatrical, but it's a Yes. Sorry, was doing something else

Good Question
I loved this; it was an excellent song choice. I feel the blonde one has an excellent voice (Jo?) and the rap is a bit of an addition, which may irritate me in future; but I guess we’ll just have to find out. If this is the standard of the groups that we should expect to be seeing tonight or during the next auditions shows, then I would be more than happy to be taking on the groups! It’s a YES. Luke Bayer Quite the opposite of above, but what a stupid song choice for a voice of this type. I feel there are voices that are ten times better than what I’ve just seen. There was just nothing special about the performance in the slightest and for that reason, I’m going to have to say NO. |

Good Question
Girls I quite enjoyed that! You’re sort of like Fergie and Nicki Minaj combined into a really epic group. You had great chemistry on stage and made me feel like having a good dance along to you as you were performing. I think you have potential to do something quite special and I am giving you my biggest yes so far. Luke Bayer Your Higher vocals just give me chills and you weirdly remind me of City and Color because of your vocal styling. You don’t go full on falsetto you try and keep it mixed between the both of them and that’s what makes you something unique and new to me. I reckon you and me together could really do something here! Big yes for you Mr Bayer. |

Justin's verdicts
Good Question
Girls, this had me on my feet and dancing! I think both of you have INSANE star power - you're gorgeous and insane at your craft - and you both work so well together. You're a current, feel good act that doesn't border on novelty once. That's rare for a duo, especially one which sings/raps an uptempo dance track. I also think you girls could have a surprising amount of emotional depth if given the right material, something I'd love to have the opportunity to do. If you don't make it through, it'd be criminal to me. I'm saying YES! Luke Bayer Well, hello again Luke! For those of you who don't know, I mentored Luke on the 4th season of Risk Factor. Let me say, your voice and style have grown exponentially since we last saw you. I think you have a very Joe McElderry quality to your tone, as presented in this audition. It's something quite theatrical. I do, however, have my concerns about your ability to relate to the crowd. I know we ran into some problems, and while I loved mentoring you, it wasn't my shining effort. I do, however, believe in you, so I am going to say yes and hope you get a really good mentor! |
