Ok some people are being stupid on here. ITV had to show football on Saturday (25th), Wednesday (29th) and Sunday (2nd) so the final is on the 8th.

This is better for the acts, it's fairer, they're younger and get more rehearsal time which means that we should get better final performances this year not just a repeat of something they've done. Simon Cowell and ITV do not choose when the football is on. It's out of their hands. ITV can have a massive build up to the final next week too.

Oh and to the moron on here who said that you don't need that much rehearsal time if you're a singer let me tell you how much of an underestimated thing that is. You need LOADS of rehearsal time, especially if you want to do your best on what is the biggest show on TV right now. The final will be the highest rated TV show we will see for a few months, I am pretty certain of that. You can't just automatically nail a song with no practice just because you can sing and that's an ignorant thing to say.

Besides most of the finalists are gonna be singers anyway, so not much rehearsing really needed is there
Please see my above post if you want to see how much of an ignorant and moronic statement I think that is.

It wouldn't be Digital Spy if people weren't moaning about the football interrupting the schedules. I don't see the big issue - I actually think, although they were forced into doing it like this, that it's better to separate the main event of the final away from the semi-finals. It allows all acts to adequately prepare thus making for a better show IMO. Plus with some semi-finalist performances less fresh in one's mind it might make for a more open final than it would otherwise be.

I'd thought it was to do with avoiding a clash with The Voice kicking off the knockout rounds.
