Well, he mentions which acts he likes on most of the shows. I don't think all of them were singers and dancers. I'm pretty sure he liked the shadow puppet act for example.

This is interesting because just before the first series of BGT was made he was saying how he misses the old variety shows and the whole purpose of this show was to showcase variety acts.
It was supposed to be the entire point of the show's existence in the first place.

If he doesn't like variety as he's now suggesting then why doesn't he just do two series of The X Factor every year? Then he can have as many of his beloved singers on them as he wants.
