Doc files on Kindle - author name

I have transferred a .doc file (MS Word 2007 created) using the Kindle email address (I haven't yet fathomed how to do it by USB - but that is another story).

Once the file arrives on the Kindle (a Paperwhite) for some reason the "Author" is shown not as the name displayed in Word but as the e-mail address which I used to send it.

The author name is the same when I look at the list I find in "Manage your Kindle" on the Amazon web site.

Is there any obvious way to stop it doing this so that it uses the Author name held by Word for the document?

I don't think it does this if I send a home created PDF.

If anyone might wonder, I finally found something from Amazon called "Send to Kindle for PC" which allows me to set the displayed author's name as well as the document title.
