Hopefully someone on here can help me.

I live in a basement flat in London.
I have Sky tv in two rooms with a set top box in each.
My flat mate has bought a new freeview tv for her bedroom but despite running cables (15metres) through the flat to the nearest aerial socket we can't keep any signal to the new tv.
When I initially set it up, it was fine and found 100+ channels, but a couple of hours later these had vanished and there was no signal. This has happened a couple of times, but now we can't seem to get any signal at all

To be honest, I'm not sure if the aerial socket is even connected to an outside aerial

Is there any way I can set up the new tv with my two existing sky boxes?

Any advice greatly received.

You could plug the TV into one of the Sky boxes, either via the RF 1 or 2 outs or a SCART or HDMI socket and appropriate leads. However she would only be able to watch whatever satellite channel the box the TV is attached to is tuned to. Even if you use the RF OUT.

If there is no aerial signal available in the property then no connection to a Sky box is going to replicate what you would get if an aerial was available.

If she wants independence from either of your Sky boxes then she needs a separate feed either from the satellite dish to a Sky or Freesat box or an aerial for Freeview. There is no other solution.

Have you tried the TV in the room with the aerial socket using a short lead to connect the two? It is possible the long lead you are using is faulty and that is why there is no signal in her room. If you get no or very poor signal in the same room on a short lead then that indicates there could be a problem with the aerial system.

It could be the aerial itself (assuming there is one), the cable to the socket or the socket. A common fault with sockets is the wiring on the back. Might be worth taking the socket off the wall and having a look on the back and seeing if the cable is OK (or indeed if there is any cable!) Check the screws are done up and the inner conductor isn't broken. And that there are no stray strands of screen braid touching the inner conductor.

After that it's a case of chasing the cable back to check for damage and to find out if it is attached to anything at the other end. And if it is then checking that out, it could be some sort of distribution system or an aerial.
