Have netted flower beds in an attempt to get our two cats to use litter tray.Put large tray in dry area under trees but they dont seem to like ASDA litter is there a product that they might like to save me buying one of everything.I think the idea will work although with the recent rains I will have to make some kind of lean to roof under trees as rain dripped through and soaked my £3.09 Tesco litter

It really is trial and error with litters, my boys like telcos £2 something stuff (orange and dusty) but mums girl only likes the hellishly prices catsan. I'd start at the cheap end and work your way up! Perhaps potting soil would work if they like plants?

This is designed for outdoor use.

I use World's Best Litter. It's expensive but it lasts a long time so works out very economical.

I used to put abit of 'outside stuff' in our cats litter, she wouldnt use cat litter, so a bit of earth and abit of sand has worked for her!

I use smart litter it costs about £2.80 for 10litres but you can get the 5litre bags from poundworld when they have it in stock.
I tried Asda smart price litter and my cat kicked it out of his tray he hated it lol.

Catsan may seem pricey but it lasts so much longer than others I find it cheaper in the long run.

Avoid the cheap stuff, its generally crap

Another vote for catsan. I have no sense of smell so am paranoid my home might smell due to the cats. On top of that my flat is tiny, so if there was a smell it would be everywhere. I always ask visitors if there is any "cat smell" and the answer is always no

I go through at least five big bags of catsan per week. I've tried every brand going and even though it is dearer I always end up going back too it. The wood pellet ones which everyone it is always goes to sawdust and I that that awful . The cheaper brands there are crap I agree totally.

I've tried a few types of litter on our cat and she will use anything, but I've found the best to be Tesco's Low dust lightweight. Its so easy to change over without congealing to the bottom of the tray and lasts us quite a while.

We were told that the silica gel ones were the best but they just never seemed to absorb anything and cost so much. Not tried Catsan so can't comment on how good that is, but the Tesco one is about half the price so cant justify paying twice as much when we've found one that works for us.

I tried a silica gel one on the advice of a few people who said it was fantastic......I've never bought it again, really didnt see what was so good about it. It certainly didn't last any longer than Catsan and my two cats didn't seem keen.

I have tried all the supermarket fullers earth/clumping types and to be honest I found the best one was Aldi. £1.79 for 10 litres. Tesco and Sainsburys are around £2.80 for a slightly smaller bag.

We have two 7kg monsters so get through a lot. We have a massive covered tray in the bathroom that takes a bag and a half. I just throw the lot out once a week.

We use the wood based litter and she seems to get on just fine with it. We have a big scoop and put three to four scoops in and empty it every other day at the most. Yes it does go to wet sawdust but it is easy to clean out before fresh is put in.

We have been lucky that we haven't had any problems with her using her litter tray and kicking stuff out. I would imagine it can be very frustrating when they do

you're going to start using a litter tray yourself

Mine uses the Cat's Own clumping wood chip one from Pets at Home. It's fairly expensive but lasts for ages and clumps really well in a gel ball you can just scoop out. A £9 bag lasts about 6 weeks for my cat who uses her tray all the time. It doesn't smell either, which I find clay litters do. Even Catsan I find reeks after a cat has pee'd in it.

The silica gel ones my cat really liked but they were expensive and didn't last as long as they said. Very good for smells though.

Might need to if the water pump in the block keeps breaking
