Just about any moron can get a gang of pretty young lads and pluck a well known standard off the shelf to record and make them sound tolerable with a few knob twiddles. That whole concept is so cynical, lazy and musically bankrupt.
Mention has been made that Spice Girls records have aged badly and I tend to agree that most have. But this is not in itself a reason not to play them on POTP because nobody can say the Bay City Rollers singles haven't also aged horribly and are of their time. Having said that, a couple of months ago I heard Shang-A-Lang blaring out over the local Co-op's instore radio which seemed a bit peculiar!
I was only able to hear today's POTP while sharing a coffee in a Costa shop which was playing the show in the background, so when I've listened properly on catch up I will comment further. It sounded like a good show.
