Very rare, especially then, maybe even unique, unless someone knows better?
Such a contrast between the two singles. Part Time Love was a real fun performance and Elton looked quite good, whereas Song For Guy is extremely melancholy and the look wasn't too good.”

Actually, yes. Lennon after his death in 1980, possibly Elvis in 1977 after his, and The Jam, maybe twice etc.”
The most recent one was Lily Allen when she had 2 tracks in the Top 10 over Christmas. Her cover of Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know' and 'Hard Out Here'. Much easier to do these days with downloads.
John Lennon had 3 tracks in the Top 5 back in January 1981 but apart from (Just Like) Starting Over not new material. Elvis had a whack of re-entries in September 1977 but most just missed the Top 40.
Slade's a great example. 'Merry Xmas Everybody' spent 3 weeks at No.20 in '83 the same weeks 'My Oh My' was stuck at No.2 for 3 weeks behind The Flying Pickets (Don't even get me going on that!!

) But again not 2 new tracks.
Remember when the rules stated that you couldn't get on the 'Pops 2 weeks in a row unless you were No.1? I'm sure Slade wangled it in 1983 when they did 'My Oh My' one week then 'Merry Xmas Everybody' the next! Both in the chart, different songs
The Jam got to perform 'Town Called Malice' and the 'B' side 'Precious' in 1982 in the same show as did Oasis in 1996 with 'Don't Look Back In Anger' and 'Cum on Feel the Noize'.
One Direction had 3 new tracks in the Top 40 towards the end of last year as did Eminem.
