Top 20
20 NOBODY'S DIARY - YAZOO - Great start! Unmistakaby early 80s. Shame this doesn't get played as much as Only You.
17 BUFFALO SOLDIER - BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS - I may be in the minority, but I wouldn't have minded this being skipped. Not a big reggae fan.
16 BEAT IT - MICHAEL JACKSON - It's so hard to believe that such a huge tune like this never made it to no. 1. I'd happily erased Eat it, the parody version by Weird Al Yankovic, from my memory, until I heard it the other day on a retro chart show.
15 FAMILY MAN - DARYL HALL AND JOHN OATES - Quite like this, and it was nice to hear this rather than one of their better know hits.
14 DON'T STOP THAT CRAZY RHYTHM - MODERN ROMANCE - It would have been good to hear this if it had been the single version, though my fave of their hits is Walking In The Rain from later in the year.
13 WHAT KINDA BOY YOU LOOKING FOR (GIRL) - HOT CHOCOLATE - Harldy surprising that Hot Chocolate always seem to crop up, considering how many singles they released. It would've been nice if they'd been skipped, though. When it comes to their early 80s hits, I prefer It Started With A Kiss, as it has more depth than this song.
12 BAD BOYS - WHAM! - Definitely my least fave Wham! track and I believe George Michaeal is embarrassed about it too. I can't understand why the lyrics are supposed to be macho, but it's sung quite a lot in falsetto.
11 WE ARE DETECTIVE - THOMPSON TWINS - Probably my least fave of their singles - and I'm still not sure why it isn't called We Are Detectives, as Tony called it. Thankfully they went on to better things.
10 BLIND VISION - BLANCMANGE - Probably their hit I am least familiar with, so it was good to hear this. My fave of theirs is still Don't Tell Me, though.
07 OUR LIPS ARE SEALED - FUN BOY THREE - I have to say I enjoyed hearing this more than I was expecting. I do prefer this version to the Go-Gos'.
05 CAN'T GET USED TO LOSING YOU - BEAT - Not that I listen to this or the Andy Williams version of my own accord, but I do think this is a decent cover version.
04 DANCING TIGHT - GALAXY FEAT. PHIL FEARON - While my fave of theirs is Everybody Laughing, especially the 12" verison, I enjoyed hearing this one. They had a few good hits in the 80s, but sadly seem to have been pretty much forgotten.
03 CANDY GIRL - NEW EDITION _ I would've definitely skipped this one! One I liked more at the time than I do know. Not surprising it was the lowest selling No. 1 of 1983.
02 TEMPTATION - HEAVEN 17 - Fantastic, and I'm certainly not just saying this because they're a Sheffield band! A staple of 80s radio shows, It's a shame it just missed out on No. 1.
01 TRUE - SPANDAU BALLET - There are other Spandau songs I like better than this, but there's no denying this is an 80s classic, and destinted to be played ont the radio forever more.
Not played
19 THE LAST FILM - KISSING THE PINK - I couldn't remember the song, but I knew they group weren't called Kissing The Park! When I youtubed it, I found it vaguely familiar. I can't make up my mind if I like it or not, but I have had it going round my head.
18 FIRDAY NIGHT (LIVE) KIDS FROM 'FAME' - I definitely think this song isn't the play-out system, which is annoying. While it's definitely the worst of the Fame hits, it is surely these long-forgotton songs that POTP is meant to be for.
09 WORDS - F.R. DAVID - Gutted not hear this great slice of cheesy Euro-pop. Definitely a guilty pleasure.
08 PALE SHELTER - TEARS FOR FEARS - Don't hate their songs, but there's none I'm really crazy about, so not too bothered this was skipped.
06 KEEP FEELING FASCINATION HUMAN LEAGUE - Would've liked this to have been played. Another group doing Sheffield proud. I love how this record sounds like it's warped in places - I'm sure that a lot of people thought that when they first heard it on the radio.
