Modupe - Stitched up?
P_P
01-06-2013
From her twitter "@ModupeOfficial 29 May
Not gunna keep saying it but I did NOT make the decision to sing beauty and a beat last night."

Apparently this was the song that she wanted to sing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUfbLWpm5PQ

Looking at what was shown from her audition she probably wouldn't have gone through, but she's gained at least one fan from it.

It does ask the question, how much freedom do the contestants get?

And do some get more freedom over what they choose than others?

So she was another Syco/producers talent "thrown under the bus" for the sake of a TV programme/to try and enable the "chosen ones" to have an easier ride.

That's such a shame the song she wanted to sing sounds so good ! she should have put her foot down more though if she really didn't want to sing it .

Even if she did get to sing what she wanted, she would have been overshadowed by Jack & Gabz anyway.

If she confessed live it was the producers then her name would be dirt for future shows. Stevie Pink did that and when James More did his act, all the judges ram him down,

I highly doubt she had any say whatsoever, regardless of how much she put her foot down.

Sadly, she's one of several people who have been forced to sing something they don't want to on BGT, and then later criticised by the judges for "poor song choice".

You do that and a black mark will probably be put against your name. You'll be seen by the show makers and judges as being 'difficult to work with'.

These people are not in their own environment and it must be incredibly difficult if not impossible to go against what the producers ask of you.

Would they really have kicked her off if she said no?

They can't physically force her to sing a song she doesn't want to sing they can't also can't kick her off the show for not wanting to sing it either so she really should have put her foot down more.

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. I guess there's something in the contracts that signs control over to the producers. From her Twitter, she makes it blatantly clear that she had no say in what she did -

"I know right! i never wanted to sing it, wanted to sing my own song to be honest "

"no love unfortunately I did not pick it or have any say in it. X"

"so was I, but sometimes, not everyone wants you to do well...I most definitely wanted to do my thing like the first audition"

I don't know what would happen if she refused to sing it, but she definitely was reluctant in doing so. Unfortunately she appears to have been treated in the same unfair way that Jessica Hobson was a few years ago.

I know for a fact that Modupe was told that she had to change her act, and it ruined any chances that she had of doing well.

She was about to say something but she began to cry as she did. She said in an article a while later that she was to say that "Apparently it was somebody from the record company who suggested it".

They've done it numerous times over the years, last year IIRC, both Honey Shazad and Rachel Knowland mentioned being made to sing a song by producers. They also seemed to mess up J-Unity's performance on Monday night by giving them dodgy mics!

Says a lot about the show, and Fix factor too.

If this is true then why do they not just refuse to take part, i mean, they've got to think about the rest of their life/career and not humiliate themselves for 15 minutes of fame
