So out of the 10 acts in the final so far (with one wildcard act still to be decided), SIX of them are singers!

Is this a record?

It wrecks the show what a shame.

The ventriloquist is better than Jack and Francine

We are thinking the same thing. I made a thread with a similar title too.

It's just awful. What the hell are these people thinking?

Absolutely ridiculous.

A quick check on Wikipedia says there were 6 singers/groups in the final last year. It's such a shame that there are talented variety acts that apply but the final usually ends up being at least two-thirds made up of singing acts and/or dancing acts.

If he wants a show to find singers then why doesn't he create a show of which the purpose is to find singers?

It's a real shame. Lots of great variety acts have lost out to singers. In my opinion, tonight, Aliki was a better singer than Jordan.

Apparently according to Simon, Jack and Francine deserve a standing ovation.
And Steve deserves a "You've done well".

Talk about damning with faint praise.

Haha.

The strange thing is, how many times has Simon said "I don't usually like comedy/magic/ventriloquism..." - I mean this is his show! The whole point is that it's a variety show, surely?

I'm quite disappointed that Simon ended up being so predictable tonight.

That sounds like a great idea. You should write to him and suggest it.

I know.
If he wants to make a variety show then surely one of the main prerequisites is that he has a passion for variety.

May as well call this The X Factor through the back door.

Can't believe they didn't put the ventriliquist through as the prize is a place on a variety show.

Britains got Talent forgot the meaning of the word!

Not gonna bother with it, just going to record it and watch attraction and the little boy comedian.

Then look forward to seeing Attraction on the Royal Variety show.

Britain's Got Mediocre Singers, to be more accurate.

A potential, realistic final from the semi's:

Richard and Adam
Aaron Crow
Jack Caroll
Pre-School
Luminites
Joseph Hall
Francine Lewis
James More
Attraction
Steve Hewlett
+ wildcard

2 singers, a dance troupe, a magician, a comedian, an impressionist, a ventriloquist, a 'stuntman', a unique solo dancer and whatever you want to describe Attraction as. All of those you could make a very good case for being one of the best 2 acts of their respective night, the talent is most definitely there but the British public and the judges are intent on turning this show into X-Factor lite hence an abundance of mediocre singers in the final and as good as no variety.

If I want to watch a singing show I watch the voice. Britains got talent should be variety. If a singing act gets the wildcard I will be so annoyed.

That's a great idea. That name for it may even work. What they could do is create this new show called...The X Factor? And when that starts they can put all the singers on there and we can be rest assured that BGT won't be used to forcefeed a glut of singers to us and is instead freed up to focus more on variety.
I think we've found a solution to our problem ladies and gentlemen.

I don't necessarily like every single act you've listed, but that doesn't matter because it sure does look a lot more balanced and your list would make for a great final.

I think that one big problem is that out of the non-singing acts I only really rate Attraction, and Jack isn't too bad.

The other two non-singing acts, Francine and Pre Skool, I just don't think they're very good. Not enough for the final anyway.

That's the 4 non-singing acts accounted for, and now I'm all out of options.

If I only like two of the non-singing acts then it's not a good final for me.
There's simply not enough good acts there for me to like and enjoy for an entirety of a full show.
If I do have the final on at all it's probably going to be on in the background as it wades through all the list of singers, and I'll just turn around to watch the two acts who I think can keep my attention.

I don't agree with you list fully but like someone else said it would make for a much more enjoyable show.

The public and the judges just don't get the meaning of variety at all

I agree its not much of a variety and tonight a dull singer was chosen over an act which would of brought more to the final.
