Question for the techy guys here.

When I go into the engineering menu on the iPhone I get various network codes. I know that 234 30 is a t mobile site and 234 33 is an orange one but what does 234 304 and 234 334 mean? Lucan ? Plymouth ?

The prefix 234 or 235 means its a UK network (Mobile Country Code)

The suffix code is the Mobile Network Code

Thanks but what I would like to know is what the 304 and 334 mean. Oranges normal code is 33 and t mobile 30.

I've seen some pretty odd network codes while roaming on Orange (as a Three Customer):

Possibly the phone is reporting erroneous information? Seems odd.

Hmmm.. wondering if the "4" at the end is a marker to indicate the site that the phone is connected to has been refurbished (ie: has 4G equipment on it - the 4 being an obvious marker)??

Good point plymouth. I will do a bit of research and have a look at what the phone says when in certain areas.

I would tend to agree with that, as i only see it on 4G sites.

Interesting to see an Orange site reporting 4G.... with a 3 sim.

The Orange sites that are remaining are being incorporated into MBNL so seems legit to upgrade it at the same time, no?

My local shopping centre has both an orange and t mobile masts right beside each other and both are still live. The t mobile one is very fast while the orange one is much slower but still quite reasonable. Both sites do not give the "4" id.

Which quite possibly means that those sites have not been upgraded? I dunno.....

Question Plymouth or Lucan. Will orange masts that are integrated into mbnl get a 33 or 30 code

Once incorporated into MBNL I would assume only one network code will survive.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say which code will survive, so I'll leave that be, however you'll know the answer.

I suppose that's possible, but this is a rural place where:

-There's no 3G from any network
-Only Orange has 2G coverage

As far as 4G site candidates go, surely it's pretty low down the list?

Sites can be upgraded to allow 4G but not active yet. There are several rural sites i know of that could do 4G now but are not yet live..

There is one such site half a mile from my office which if 4g was switched would give me a good indoor signal. At the moment I have a mediocre outdoor 4g signal. Come on EE switch it on.

234 is the MCC : Mobile country code
30 or 33 is the MNC : Mobile network code
PLMN is the combination which makes up a unique worldwide network code : Public Land Mobile Network (234 30 or 234 33)

Any additional digits displayed on the engineering display are not real and are apple specific additions I would suspect.

EE (4G) uses 234 30
TMobile/EE (2G and 3G) uses 234 30
Orange (2G and 3G) uses 234 33

If you see 234 30 coming from an Orange site, it is no longer an orange site (although you can see 234 30 and 234 33 from a single site, if the 2G/3G/4G have not been done at the same time). In the end they will all be EE PLMN sites (234 30) managed by MBNL.

Does anyone know when the process of switching an old orange 2g/3G mast will be put on to the MBNL network. I have a nextivity rs1 booster that will boost 234 30 but not 234 33, and hoping when it's converted I will be able to boost it again in my house. My location is Coventry, West Midlands.

Thanks
