I have a samsung galaxy ace and, when I was looking for a number, I noticed that some of my contacts are missing, and the appearance of my contacts list has changed. Flight mode had been switched on so, after changing that, I expected the contacts to be back to normal, but no. I went into settings, and tried various changes, to no avail. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Are they contacts stored on your phone or in your Google account?

You could try going into your contacts and pressing Menu > Contacts to Display (wording may be different on the Ace) and making sure that nothing has become unchecked that shouldn't have - or try All Contacts for now and see if those ones you've lost come back.

Contacts are stored on the phone. Curiously, most of the contacts which do remain are facebook ones.

Sorry I can't offer a fix, just some advice for the future. Save your contacts to your Google account. That way whichever phone you use you will always have them instantly available.

I am sure there is something strange with Facebook and contacts. I no longer use it but when I did there was an occasion when my Google contacts somehow became populated with someone else's because of Facebook. Very strange.

Maybe you need to look in the contacts and Facebook options to see if you have checked a box to only display Facebook contacts, if such an option exists.

Checking my phone to see if I had missed any calls/messages, and up popped a number, and asked if I wanted to save it in my contacts. I clicked yes and, lo and behold, up popped all my contacts. Strange!
