If I plug a multi scart into a PVR (one scart) - can I connect more than 1 device?

I'm about to purchase a PVR which has only one scart socket but I'd like to transfer such programmes onto DVD discs.

But if I connect a multi scart to the one scart socket on the PVR; can I connect both my digital telly and a DVD recorder?

Or would there be too great a deterioration in picture quality?

Such devices are really poor things, buy a SCART switch - and switch to the input you want.

What PVR? If it only has one SCART does that mean it has HDMI as well? If it does then use HDMI to the telly and SCART to the DVD recorder. Job done, no loss of quality.

You can get SCART switch boxes that have separate switch sections for the TV and recorder. So you could selectively switch the PVR to either TV or recorder depending on what you want to do. That would avoid any issues from using a cheap splitter unit.

But there may be a simpler solution if the DVD recorder has two SCARTs. Just connect the PVR to AV2 on the recorder and AV1 on the recorder to the telly, (the recorder may label it's sockets differently).

The recorder should pass through the signal from the PVR to the TV when you want to watch that. It could be as simple as switching the PVR on and letting the SCART auto switching do the rest. Or you may have to press a button on the recorder remote. It should even work if the recorder is off recording from the internal tuner if you ever use it that way.

Good point. It does.

And the DVD recorder does have two scarts!
