Strictly Needs A Listers - Not More Z Listers & Simons Rejects - Cheryl Now Tulisa ?
We keep on hearing about Strictly Come Dancing attracting A list celebrities, but all we end up getting are a collection of butchers, bakers and kiddies TV presenters and Simons rejects. http://markmeets.com/#/showbiz/45624...s-year/5711828 http://tellymix.co.uk/reality-tv/str...pparently.html In what universe are Dick and Dom A list celebrities, certainly not this one? http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/view/314214 We have already had the unedifying spectacle of Cheryl turning up in the audience stealing Kimberleys limelight and hogging the camera time in her ongoing fued with Simon, and now we have Tulisa trying to use Strictly to get back at Simon for rejecting her. Where will it end? http://tellymix.co.uk/reality-tv/str...3-line-up.html Is there any real chance of us getting some genuine A list Celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing, or is it just a piper dream, meaning that we will have to accept the basement of the barrel forever more? |

True A-listers are far too busy pursuing their careers to consider signing away 4 months or so in Strictly. Only Wannabees, Has-beens & those wanting to re-invent their careers (such a retired sports-folk) have that amount of time!

Given the spot of bother Tulisa has recently found herself in - I can't see the producers inviting her onto Strictly anytime soon!

I think as long as there half or dozen or so biggish names in the line up each year that is good enough, and nearly all of the people who appear are reasonably well known. What I personally don't want to see on the programme are WAGS, realityTV contestants and general hangers on who haven't achieved anything much in their own right, mercifully these have been few in number on Strictly. |

I can't understand what all the fuss is about, I do personally find all tattoos to be tacky, but I don't understand why Tulisa's tattoo is any more tacky than any other tattoo, it only says lucky, certainly no reason for the producers to deem her unsuitable to appear on Strictly, mores the pity. http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrit...skimpy-1915249 |

I quite liked Jodie on Strictly - I didn't expect to but I thought she came across really well and was a trier & she showed that tall people can dance. It probably helped that she was partnered with lovely Ian. I suppose it depends how Tulisa manages to recover from her issues, but if she does I think she'll have to wait a while before she gets an invite

This is just the Cowell PR machine getting X-factor and BGT mentioned in speculation about Strictly.
All X-factor judges would have clauses banning them from joining Strictly for some time after "leaving" X-Factor. And don't think the BBC are innocent - they announce the Pro changes during the BGT live shows run. |

I remember Jodie Kidd did have some scandal attached to her but wasn't it sometime after she got invited to do SCD by which time she'd redeemed herself?

I wouldn't mind her on the show at all. I think she'd be one of the better known celebs if she did join, by no means a Z celeb. She'd attract younger audience to the show as well I'd say... |

Yeah Jodie's incident was about a year before strictly, so presume she had well redeemed herself by then. Basically same story as Tulisa, a Sunday newspaper reported claimed she offered to get him cocaine.

It'll be interesting to see if Tulisa can manage to do the same......I'm not really an X-factor viewer either but I've seen Tulisa on various interviews and saw a documentary she did on young carers and I think she used to come across well too - she didn't have the easiest of childhoods with her mother being seriously ill for much of it. I don't know she has been a very silly woman and no sane person can excuse what she's done...also reading various articles it seems like the fame and wealthy lifestyle has gone to her head........ I hope she learns her lesson from this but I hope for her and her family's sake she manages to recover from this incident. If gets the offer and she wants to do Strictly I wouldn't mind seeing her on it and would watch her with an open mind - she'd be a controversial signing but she could make interesting viewing and pull in a wider audience. |

There was less than a year between Jodie Kidd's incident and her doing SCD. Quote:

Tulisa has been bailed until July so I can't see her being signed up this year. Maybe in the future though if she sorts herself out.
I don't enjoy seeing all these pics of Tulisa and Chelsee Healey out and about together......but maybe that's because I have always liked Chelsee and am not so keen on Tulisa

Outside of Anton, 90% of the general public have no clue who the pros are. Do you really think the BBC were expecting to steal headlines with that announcement.

How do you define A Listers ? I would hardly call Peter Shilton, Felicity Kendal,Lesley Garrett and Colin Jackson Tufnell Z listers. They can't all be A listers and some of the lesser known zelebs have been the most talented and interesting - Kara Tointon, Jill Halfpenny, Tom Chambers for example.
The delighful Felicity Kendal and Julian Clary are without doubt A list celebrities, but Simons X Factor cast offs are just rejects with a grudge, trying to use Strictly Come Dancing to get back at Simon. |

Heck, I doubt you could get A-listers to compete with other A-listers. There are perks to having "arrived." "Call me Miss Ross." "Nobody is to look at Miss Streisand. Nobody is to speak to her unless she speaks to them." "Miss Lopez requires white room, white flowers, white tables and/or tablecloths, white drapes, white candles, white couches, large comfortable chair for hair and makeup...." Country star Kellie Pickler, on the other hand, was content to ask for ordinary Swiss or sharp cheddar; "The only alcohol backstage appears confined to the dressing room occupied by Pickler’s band." |

Exactly. Not to mention...Is there an A-lister alive who wouldn't consider it beneath them to complete with Z-listers? They'd have nowhere to go but down.

What do we class as A list?
To me that's the huge stars, the ones that get paid megabucks for films, I mean the likes of Cruise, Dench, Craig, Neeson, etc.... I would class soap stars and the kind of celebrities that Strictly would attract as somewhere in the B or C class. Z listers will go to shows like CBB and the like. If an A list celebrity had to give up 4 months of their lives then they'd command millions, that's not going to happen on licence payers money. I think Strictly always get it right with who they choose. Fairly well known celebrities that we get to know and like as the weeks go on and as they improve. |

OMG! please let this X Factor reject double whamy not be true, I haven't come this close to having a tantrum and switching off since the disgraceful chicken incedent and then the way they treated poor Lulu, but I'm very close to the edge again now.
