They are looking for a new Blue Peter presenter and are allowing viewers to vote for their favorites.

Judging panel consists of Myleene Klass, Eamonn Holmes and Ceallach Spellman.

Get rid of the show and give Helen her own. Job solved.

Starts on Monday at 5pm. They do need to refresh the show a bit as the viewing figures are abysmal.

The mighty Dick and Dom are hosts of the show. I liked the look of the redhead one until I watched her video on the CBBC site. She annoyed me a bit then.

So we get to vote for the winner? This'll be interesting indeed.

Needs to be reinvented rather than gimmicked up with an X-Factor vote.

It'd be a bit embarrassing for CBBC if this 'competition' rates higher than the show itself.

Like the cat name competition, they will probably alter it and go for the one they want in the end after all anyway.

It's Blue Peter in name only. The presenters used to be household names, the time it went out was known by all.

Need a presenter, just ask Biddy, she knew how to get the right ones most of the time.

This show should have had pride of place on BBC1 to this day if it was valued, the one exception on children's shows in the afternoon schedule.

There was a singing competition for glee clubs on CBBC back in March. The non-live bits stayed on the CBBC channel, and the two live shows were simulcast on BBC1 & CBBC.

No wonder if the viewing figures are abysmal. The programme now faces fierce competition from so many other programmes pitched at the same level.

strange that they have not got Helen or Barney or an ex blue peter presenter on the judging panel as surely it would make sense to have one on it as they know exactly what makes a blue peter presenter.

It's more to do with games consoles, smart phones, the internet and TV catch up services these days.

My two teenage daughters usually get in from school and start doing other stuff rather than putting the TV on.

After dinner they'll bung on BBC3 or "The Apprentice" or something like that.

Err..

I was actually taking the rise out of it, probably not so obvious to some without the inclusion of a daft smiley.

Kids are a lot more worldly than they were when Blue Peter started, so the appeal has obviously progressively diminished due to other attractions.

It was also very "middle class" which these days would put off a lot of kids.
You're consequently not going to get the tremendous support to the
worthy initiatives they used to start. A lot of them wouldn't be bothered.
Sad, but that's how it is for many.

Well, they still seem to persist with it so there must be something in it for the presenters. Surely they should take a different direction?

I mean, they do give viewers opportunities such as designing the official poster for Wimbledon/Diamond Jubilee.

I think it's still a good show but it shouldn't be judged on ratings at all.

Kids do still watch TV, but they tend to watch it later on after Blue Peter has finished.
